:angryfire JUST MY 2 CENTS ON LTC FAICLITIES!!! I worked at a LTC facility(as agency), I WAS THE ONLY NURSE FOR 30 RESIDENTS!!!, on the end stage alz. unit and I am a use to a big med passes, but I was responsible for all the tx, bloodsugars, vs, and whatever else!...I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!!!!...and when I said something to the staffing nurse about how long it took and it being unsafe, she asked me if I was a new nurse????can you believe it?!..just terrible....I felt so bad, not feeling like I properly assessed my residents....even the regular staff nurses that I talked to, said they do this all of the time, understaff..it is a crime I tell you...I REFUSE to give substandard care..the staff was very helpful and I just love the residents.....I just felt so overwhelmed..and a nurse told me, they have nurses who will come in but they too refuse to work short, so that is why, only nurses who put up with this are called in!, WHY WE DO NURSES KEEP LETTING THIS HAPPEN????...

I want to work there..PLEASE:-)

Today is the 12th day...he is getting only 10mg morphine/hr,no IV fluids,no tpn, no feeding, only a swab to the mouth q 1-2 hr. this has been for past week, the previous 5 days only 10cc/ hr fluids.... minnib "I would rather have 15 minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special" author unknown

My 83 yr old father, last month had emergency surgery b/c of boerhaave's syndrome, they only performed it b/c he was extremely healthy(only hx of an ulcer of the stomach). He was in the ICU and ended up being trached, they could not wean him and he had become septic, so they told us there was nothing more they were able to do...we made the painful decision to put him on hospice care, inpatient in the hospital...on the 4th of this month, he was put in a private room on a med/surge flr and the intesivist(spl?)/pulmunologist gave him 1-2 days at the most, he was put on a morphine drip and 15 L 02 through his trach...it is now going on the 16th and he is still holding on...the unit doc said he just has such a strong heart..he is on 9mg morphine an hour...my sisters and I have been here 24/7...it is hard to watch his body breakdown, but he is mostly very comfortable...the staff here is great but everyone pretty much can't believe how he is hanging in there..yes, he has seen everyone, we have left him alone for a short while and we told him it was ok to go and be with our mom and our brothers...thanks for reading...just wanted to share..

thanks for the replys..yes I know now they accept but i am afraid before I get a chance to finish they may enact something not to accept EC....just listening to what some nurses are saying out there..

I have been signed for EC for almost a year now and have only the info tech(?) class and I am taking a local CC prereq now, my fear is; PA BON will not except EC RN program before I am done, so I dragging my feet on taking any nursing classes through EC. Does anyone feel the same way?. I really need to do this, because I love my job and trad. sch. is not an option, at least not for nursing courses...would love some feedback.... Thanks, Minni

Hello all, I just finished my information literacy course....72 out of 100....it took me almost 3 months and now I am ready to tackle it seriously...I really want to get this done asap...when I was done I was thinking they would have at the end a message like "you passed" or something but nothing...not even an email..I am still getting use to the system...I need all of my other classes...anyine have any suggestions on what I should take next?...I am thinking I need to get english and all my other prereqs done 1st?... thanks, GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!!!!! Hello fellow EC students....I also feel the only one out there at times...I signed up oh 3-4 months ago I think LOL ah times flies and I am still on my 1st course which is the info tech class from EC that everyone enrolled must take??...so I am going slow and I am hoping after I finish this one I will schedule a test and then study like mad..that is how I must do it!!! I love these boards..such a tremendous help...really.... Minnib

This career is mental, physical, emotional, just like a good relationship you are always learning and will never know it all... which sometimes can be a little overwhelming...I am amazed at how much my nursing career has helped me grow as a person is so many areas of my life...it forces you to think of problems in an analytical way...and the choice in nursing is endless...so many areas to specialize in....one can never be bored ......I LOVE NURSING:heartbeat:redbeathe!!!!
