Single mother questions
Sorry you are having to deal with these feeling. You will have make sacrifices. I know it is hard but the 9-5 maybe the answer. It will allow you to spend time with your child. But I must tell you sometimes you have to make decisions that are unpopular. I am 53 years old now but was widowed at 35 year old. I raised 5 children alone. My mother and aunt helped but it was difficult. Today they are all grown and on their own. They also did the best they could. I am proud because they are all productive adults. My philosophy is to do the best you can.

I almost got kicked out of my program from ONE mistake!
Please do not be hard on yourself everyone makes mistakes. It is part of learning. You were very professional in accepting responsibility for your mistake. So you have learned a lesson move on and became that great nurse.

Hello my name is.......and I am OBESE
I am also considered obese and I love to eat. But I have learned over the years that there is no such thing as dieting. I would like to be a perfect 6 but I am not. I have learned to love myself as I am but to live healthy. I have learned to exercise and eat correctly. Most women should only consume 1600-1800 calories per day and they should exercise 40 minutes at least 6 days a week. The exercise can be walking, jogging or what ever exercise you enjoy. Weight lifting also helps. This does not mean that you have to use very heavy weight. You can use small weight 3,5,8, 10 pounds with good results. Then there is resistance training which you can do while sitting. We should never give up on being healthy. There are many days that I consume too many calories. I just do not do it everyday. We need to learn to love ourselves as we are but strive to be healthy and happy.

Group One background checks in Texas
Sounds like nurses need to stay away from Columbia HCA hospital. Have several in our state. Applied 2-3 times never got hired and glad I did not. Sounds like a place nurses should stay away from.

Nurses, have you been been spit on, pushed, scratched and verbally or assaulted?
You know it is so ridiculious to have to care for people who are abusive. I left the hospital 8 years ago because of the abuse. I have been slapped, kicked, man handled and had a patient throw his lunch tray at me. I have been called everything except a child of God. I now work as a NP. If there is any inkling of trouble I get out of the way as fast as I can.

Going to school for NP at 52 yrs old-am I crazy?
Go for it. And do not doubt yourself. Age has nothing to do with it. It is your dream now go for it. Ten years from now you will thank yourself for it. God Bless You on your endeavor.

Is it to late for me to become a Nurse?
Please? Too old? No No NO!!! If being a nurse is what you want by all means go for it. I went back with 4 small children at 28 years old. That was 24 years ago without regrets. You know what you want now go for it. And God Bless You.

Will my age keep me from a good nursing career?
I am a firm believer that anyone can be whatever they want to be. I do not think age has anything to do with it. You will face people who think you can not do the work oh well they will be all right. And you will have some people who will greet you with open arms. They will be all right But happiness comes from doing what you want to do and what God has chosen you to do. There is a job out there for you. You just have to keep looking. Good Luck and God Bless You.

Actually did it twice. In 1986 had four children ages 2, 4, 5 and 7 and went back to school. With the help of my husband recieved my BSN in 1989. Husband passed away in 1993 and I had five children ages 2, 8, 10, 11, and 14. Entered graduate school in 1998 and graduated in 2002 with MSN-FNP. It can be done just have to have faith in yourself. God Bless You.
