  1. I know how u feel. I'm a new nurse working on Med-Surg and I just recently had a couple of days that made me feel completely incompetent. I was constantly behind and I felt really stupid, but I had to tell myself that I'm still learning and I'm going to mess up. I haven't made any major mistakes just forgetting to chart small things. I guess it's just something we have to get through.
  2. I just graduated (south Mississippi) and the internship I was offered starts out at around $20/hr, with 3pm -7pm diff $2.25/hr, after 7pm i think diff is $4.25/hr.
  3. The first semester isn't so bad. We learned how to do a cath, trach care and suctioning , and med admin. We only had 8 days of actual clinical towards the end of the semester. Half of those days are in a hospital and the other half are in a nursing home. While we were at the hospital we gave meds (scary), but it wasn't that bad. You just have to study up on the meds your patient is receiving. Clinical is scary, but fun. Have a great semester and enjoy it because level 2 is supposed to be the worst out of all the levels.
  4. I am just finishing my first semester of clinicals at JD. You will love the clinical instructors in the first level. Their all very helpful. Good luck!
  5. I just started the JD program. You have to have a 2.0 overall and I think a 2.5 for prereqs and co-reqs(I could be wrong). The program doesn't pick applicants by highest gpa or anything. It is first qualified first accepted. There really isn't a very bad waiting list either. I was told I would get in the January class and I got in this semester and I think there were a few people this happened to. Almost forgot you need 18 on ACT. Good luck
  6. I have had financial aid the last three semesters and I was always able to go ahead and register. The money was always there at the latest a day or two before class started.
  7. Definitely online, especially for financial aid.
  8. Date Received: July 6, 2006 Program: ADN School: Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College State: Mississippi When does school start: August 21, 2006 The school had originally told me I probably would not get in till January, but yesterday I got my letter!
  9. Thanks Bumashes and ems. I guess I'll see you in August ems, good luck.
  10. JD today called and told me that they had a spot come open for the Aug. class and were sending me my packet! I am so excited and nervous. Can't wait!
  11. I would suggest doing the BSN. School is expensive and you need all the financial aid you can get. Also, since getting your BSN is important to you why not just go for it!
  12. World Civ.I Art App. Marriage & Family Hate summer classes:madface:
  13. I just finished up my pre-reqs except for the speech. I'm starting the nursing program in January at JD. Unless there is some sort of miracle and enough people drop out for the fall semester. In the fall I will probably take some classes for my bachelors.
  14. My teacher for A&P I enjoyed his reputation as being the hardest teacher on campus. There were about 30 of us at the beginning. 10 at the end of the semester. I ended up with a C in the class (the only C I have made:angryfire). The funny thing is I got an A in A&P II and feel like I learned alot more from this teacher.
  15. Since starting my pre-reqs I have worked at a check cashing store, Home Depot, and a casino gift shop (until Katrina). I haven't been working the last few months, but I am looking to get a job in a hospital while I am waiting to start RN program in January.
