Hey all! Does anyone know what the uniform color/ brand is for southwest college. Do we have to purchase it through the college. Do we wear it only on the clinical days and can we wear casual clothes on the days of actual classes? I would like to purchase my uniform ahead of time, or at least get extra sets now if I can. I will be starting in the fall... Thanks!

What State are you planning on going to school in? I am in Memphis and had no problem with my science courses that I took on line. I took all mine through CCConline and my home college was Morgan Community College. they are accredited. Best advice is to call up the nursing school that you want to go to and double check with them....

I can't believe how bad this all sounds too! I am really nervous. I hope that we can make it through after we start! I am very dedicated but it sounds like the school is out to get us, rather then help us!

Hey! I scored a 108 on the NLN and I got a B in A&P I, II and Micro. You also have to be eligible to take statistics and English I. I was so surprised that I got selected because I didn't do to well on the NLN, but my GPA was a 3.52 overall. I get all the info on Friday, so hopefully I will find out more about the program then! I was wondering if there are any of you that have gotten that call yet to get in to Southwest for the fall 2010. I just got mine yesterday! I am so happy and excited! I have been waiting a long time for this and it has finally come! I had some questions for those of you in the class already. I have heard a lot of horrible things about foundations. What is the class all about? Where do you do your clinicals? Are the times really from 630 to 330? How much do the lab kits cost. Any info would be great. I am trying to plan out my budget, and look for a babysitter b/c there are no daycares open at 530! Thanks!

Hey Shandra2008, I am taking my Hesi test for Deyserburg Community College. I am taking it on the 7th of August. I am also taking the NLN for Southwest TN Community College. I took it last year and scored a 97!! I needed a 100 to get into the program. I was so mad! I have been really studying alot. What kind of questions did you get more of in the science section, chemistry, physics, A&P or Biology? Last year I got more Chemistry and Physics, and I studied for the A&P and the Biology!! Hopefully the Hesi test won't be as bad as the NLN.... Kelly

Is there a difference between the two tests? I have to take the Hesi and the NLN for 2 different colleges. I took the NLN last year, and didn't do too well. I didn't want to have to buy a study guide for the Hesi if it was going to be similar to the NLN. Thanks!

I have a couple of questions on Baptist. What is the entrance test on to be accepted into their program? Do you have to take religion courses, or can a gen ed course be subsitued for it? Thanks, Kelly

Yeah, I just took mine today. I usually stink at math, but I think I did pretty good in that section. I did horrible in science, I got a lot of physics questions. I wont get my score for 2-3 weeks! Then they said that if you don't score at least 100, they won't consider you for the program and you have to wait 6 MONTHS before you take it again. I think I am going to apply for University of Memphis and Baptist. Just in case (and I have that feeling) that I won't get accpeted into southwest. Man, for such a nursing shortage, you would think that a Community college would be more accepting! Kelly

Right now I am just taking some general ed courses there. I took the 7 week music and oral speech at the millington center. They were very easy. I am taking the NLN tomorrow morning, and I am so nervous. I will let you know how it went. After I take it, I just have to submit everything to them and see if I get accepted. From what I hear, they only accept the top 60 with the highest index score. The index score consists of your pre-reqs, your grades/GPA and the score on the NLN. If I could afford to go to the university of memphis, or baptist, I would. But for now I will just cross my fingers! Kelly

Hi! I saw you were from Memphis. Are you planning on attending Southwest? If you are, then you need to take the NLN entrance exam. There is a study guide called the Review Guide for RN pre-entrance exam by Mary E. McDonald. I got mine off amazon for $25. Good luck. Kelly

Hi, I heard that it the VA is not in a safe area and that people get robbed, and cars get broke into. Is this true?? I am a heath tech now and really wanted to work there but after I heard this... I wanted to hear from someone that actually worked there. Thanks, Kelly
