  1. yes, that makes a lot of sense, thank you so much!!
  2. I've been there, couldn't find any info......I've even asked lots of questions & gotten no replies.......I'll try again though......
  3. then how do I know which ones are schools & which are not??
  4. Then why do I hear that the college network's degrees are not recognized in the state of California???
  5. that link doesn't work for me.........I'm wondering what a 'magnet hospital' is??????
  6. they used to, that's why I know people who have done the program, I'm already an RN, not looking into it, just answering the question here......
  7. I have a couple of friends there who work in L&D & they love it!!! I haven't heard good things about the med-surg or tele floors though.......don't know much about the ER either. I have another friend who works in the GI lab & she is very happy there.
  8. As a kaiser patient in the past I hated kaiser, I did not receive proper care from them & this consisted of 4 different locations. As a student nurse I did a rotation in Kaiser Fontana & what I saw the majority of the time was that money was their main priority, not the patient. I have to say I don't like those standards & because of that I would never work for Kaiser (that & the fact that I would then have kaiser insurance & be a kaiser pt again).
  9. My friends who did it said you pay a lot for books & for each & every test & the clinical too. They said it was very expensive, but to me $6K is pricey, I paid less than $2K for my RN. The weekend clinical at the end is the 'nerve wracking' I was referring to.
  10. That's very interesting. I just saw this med for the first time ever yesterday, one of the docs had prescribed it & none of us nurses knew what it was so I looked it up on my PDA.
  11. Digoxin slows the heartrate, so you don't want it less than 60 to start, because then it would end up less than 60, not a good idea......
  12. I just wanted to thank everyone for the great info in this thread.
  13. I want to do the ADN to MSN online program with Walden University, but how do I know if they are accepted/accredited for California? I've heard of some people doing their schooling only to find that their degree isn't worth anything.........is this true??? How can I avoid this happening?
  14. I know several LVNs who did it. It's very pricey & the clinical exam is extremely nerve wracking. I believe it's no longer accepted by the BRN in California (where I live) If you already have your skills down (like the LVNs I know) then it's ok to do it, but it's still very pricey & nerve wracking & can take a long time to complete.
  15. ADN=associate degree in nursing BSN=bachellors of science in nursing MSN=masters of science in nursing and there's also diploma nurses that don't have any degree and there's also doctorate degrees, though I've never seen a nurse who has one.
  16. Thanks so much, I am always afraid & hesitant to ask, but I do want to understand & learn more. I think I will start giving that a try. It's good to know that doctor's like to see that instead of being irritated by it as I suspected they would be.
  17. absolutely any nurse has the potential to possibly be unsafe, that is a bunch of BS, please don't take it personal & don't give up on nursing, so sorry that happened to you.
  18. Thanks again, more great info!!
  19. no, for med-surg it's 6:1, tele is 5:1, some places it's even 4:1.
  20. Don't know anything about the hospital itself, but Anaheim is a very large city, some parts are very nice, some are very bad, & a lot is in between.
  21. Does anyone know if Walden University (online MSN program) is accepted in CA?????
  22. actually I am curious to know if there are any clinics/urgent cares that offer 12 hour shifts??
  23. I know that St Josephs only hires new grads on night shift.
