I can't function without mechanical pencils. Starting Concepts, Patho and Chemistry on Tuesday - Oh my! Susan

I took it in the fall and just got my grade - I made an A. We had to do a great deal of reading (all from the book), a few test questions from lecture and a total of 5 diet plans. The diet plans are a bear. I worked on my for about 50 hours total. I wished I had not taken Nutrition at the same time as Microbiology and Statistics, but - oh well. I am on to Nursing School - yippee. Susan

We did cow eye, sheep brain and pig fetus for abdominals. It was very interesting and I like it. Working with the tools they give you is a bit frustrating and tying the pig fetus down on the lab tray was a challenge. Usually, it's just the smell that gets you. I wished I had remembered the Vicks Vapor Rub trick for this lab class. Susan :Ball:

Does anyone have recommendations for a NET (Nursing Entrance Test) study guide? There are several listed with Amazon. When I key in a Google search, the first one that comes up is Morrison Media, LLC for $39.95. I'll pay that if there are others who have used it and can recommend it, but don't want to spend my unearned dollars for it if there are cheaper ones that are equal in content. Whew - I'm glad I didn't train on her wing. The nurses, CNA and CMAs were very kind to my class. We were all so afraid of doing or saying something wrong that we were paranoid. If I had worked with this person, I might not have had the stamina to finish the class. We did get the nasty jobs, but what better way to get into it than getting the gropers, the non-communicative, the slo.......w eaters, and the incontiinent. We had it all and over a beer and a pizza, laughed with glee at getting through our first day on the floor. Thank you to all the staff at Heritage Oaks West in Corsicana for letting us be incompetent, slow, curious and fearful students. We appreciate you. Susan "If it is to be...it's up to me.

I'm taking Pathophysiology and Nursing Concepts and Chem. 1405 (the beginning). Also, am taking the NET (Nursing Entrance Test), which is required for my school (University of Texas at Tyler). I've just finished Micro, Statistics and Nutrition - Whew!!! Any suggestions for the ones I'll be starting in the Spring?

I took my State Exam on Friday. Whew!!! We had the nurse examiner from Hell!! I passed but two out of the 11 didn't and she declined to let two others test at all for a paper-work infraction. Had to do feeding resident, dental care and ambulation with gait belt for the skills. Most of the others had range of motion and male perineal care.

We have to identify primary production sites for hormone, match hormone to function and then give chemical structure. Any suggestions for a website giving this kind of specifics?

Yesterday in CNA class, a classmate told me she has been accepted into the Nursing Program to start in the fall. We were practicing taking bp's and she said she was afraid she would get kicked out of nursing school the first week for not being able to do bp's. She said they only give you a few chances to get it right, if you blow it, you are out.

I turned 60 last month and am about to finish pre-reqs. I am having a ball, challenging myself and enjoying the young ones in my classes. If it please God, I will be a nurse in 2008. I'm doing CNA class this summer to bump up the points for nursing school admittance, taking A & P II and just finished Algebra (with an A). My take on it is that if you want it, go for it!! Only you can say you are too old. I feel I have a lot to contribute to nursing and I bet you do too.

I can't wait to get my first set of scrubs. It's probably not a big thing to most of you, but for me, it's like.....wow - I am really, really going to be a nurse. (Patting myself on the back)

In an effort to rack up more points toward admission to nursing program at Navarro College (texas), I'm taking CNA course this summer. It is worth an additional 15 points toward admission status. I'm also doing College Algebra (worth 5 extra points). Not sure that one is worth it, but I've only got four more classes and that one is done (If I pass, of course). :paw:

I took Lifespan Human Growth and Dev during the minimester. It was an easy A. I'm taking College Algebra right now (what was I thinking????) During Summer II, I'm taking A&P II. I also got the pre-req shots (the last of the Hep C), background check, CPR for Healthcare Professionals. If all goes well, only have Microbiology and Diet and Nutrition left for fall. Then...........wait for mail-outs. :crossed fingers:

I took A&P I this Spring (made a B). The instructor is the same one teaching A&P II for the 2nd summer term. He gave me the coloring book page numbers and I've already done them. Hope you guys don't have to do the coloring. I found it to be not so much fun. It's supposed to help with identification and functions, but I was so busy doing "lightest colors in A, B, D and F, etc........" instructions, I paid little or no attention to the actual anatomy. Anyway, the coloring book work (all 67 pages of them) add another 10% to the letter grade. That's incentive enough for me to go ahead and "get r done". 2nd term of summer is July 10-August 14 and is 4 days per week and is 12:00 - 3:50. Looks like I'll be doing nothing but A&P II but it is a really cool subject. As soon as Summer I (College Algrebra) is over, I plan to start hitting the A&P books in preparation for A & P II class. I'll have about 10 days of "leisure" time between the two classes.

Aren't we STBN's smart little beings? BTW, I turned 60 yesterday! You're never to old to try something new.

I'm going for my CNA Certificate this summer to (1) gain working knowledge and (2) earn addtl points toward admittance into my school's nursing program. They only have about 25 slots open for Fall, 2007. I'm hoping to fill one of those slots. I took Lifespan Psych during minimester, now am taking College Algebra:idea: during first summer semester and will take A&P II during 2nd summer semester. That will only leave Microbiology and Diet and Nutrition for fall. Then I can do PRN CNA work to gain valuable working knowledge, earn a few bucks toward Nursing School and last but not least, make sure this is for me. How about you?

I took Lifespan (Psychology) 2314 in the minimester and made an A. It was supereasy. 1st semester of summer is College Algebra, 2nd semester is A&P II. I'm taking Fitness Walking online for the long Summer session and begin CNA classes (Saturday classes) the third week of June. Next Wednesday, I take the CPR for Healthcare Workers class. I am trying to finish all pre-reqs by the end of December so all I'll have in the fall is Diet & Nutr and Microbiology.

Hi Fun: I managed (struggled) to operate the business 3 years after my husband died, but it took complete committment. I had no life except for the business. I finally decided to sell and I've never looked back. It is very forward thinking of you to plan for the future. God forbid anything happening to your DH, but things change and the bills don't stop. Seriously, I will be 60 this coming June and have suddenly decided what I want to be when I grow up. Is that a hoot or what? My husband of 34 years passed away in 2000. I sold our business, sold the house, moved back to my hometown, bought a farm and remodeled the house that was on it. After that, I was a little bored. One day I woke up and decided I really, really wanted to be a nurse. So here I am - pre-reqs and a B on my last A&P I test. This is my story and I'm sticking to it.

I don't remember what year Cinderella was released, but I suspect good ole' Walt (Disney) was still in short pants.
