UBC 2021
I suggest you apply to other schools like BCIT and langara. They're great schools, and likely to accept you. I got rejected form UBC, and I'm going to BCIT now.

Yes I would highly recommend trying to do your best in the casper test as I am pretty sure they weigh the casper the most. I believe I got rejected because I scored 3/4 on it.

BCIT January 2021
Hi, thanks so much, I appreciate it. I have been volunteering at a hospital for 3 years. I did data entry with an organization for a year. I also have 2 years of cashier/customer service work experience. I am not sure but perhaps my CASPER also helped? It's hard to say. I really hope you get in from the waitlist. I know how it feels (I also got rejected from Langara twice haha because my transcript didn't say that I had a degree on it, long story) All the best, you got this!

BCIT January 2021
Hi guys, I got an acceptance letter too. I have a degree from UBC, which I believe really helped me get in. My grades were low- average to be honest. But I had some work and volunteer experience which might have also aided my application. I got rejected last time because of my mistake of not checking the supplemental. Congrats to everyone who got in and all the best to those waiting. Keep on going, you will make it one day.

BCIT January 2021
Hi guys! Kinda stupid question, but want some advice. I'm planning on applying for the next intake. I have a BSc. degree from UBC, I have B in A&P, and A's in everything but Psychology I have a C (69%) I am just wondering if I should retake psych now (Sept-Dec'20) to improve my GPA. I am really conflicted. Would a C look bad in my application? Or is it a minor thing that they wouldn't really care too much for. YOur suggestion would be greatly valued. Thanks!

Langara January 2021 intake
@Hewooo @LaVidaesBuena really?? Then I wonder why I got rejected?? WOW!!. I am so confused. I should've asked them straight up why I got rejected... Anyways, thanks for letting me know. I wonder if they just don't know that I have a degree, because when I applied, I was finished up my last semester. How sad... Anyways I will ask them now. Thanks guys! Hope you hear good news soon ?

That's not true, because I have a Bsc. degree but I got rejected for September 2020 because I had a really low GPA (3.0) for the 5 pre-reqs. You still kind of need to have a competitive enough GPA haha

UBC 2020 Nursing
Yes that totally makes sense. I did try to aim for the highest grades in my last 30 credits, but I defs should've done better.. I wish I knew about this website before all this.. I would've done so many things differently ?. I would've actually prepared for my CASPER, studied harder(I already did, but obviously room for improvement), etc.. so damn depressing, I was so close but sooo far.. I just graduated from UBC, so I can't really improve my grades. Unless I go back for more classes, but very unlikely.. My dumbass couldn't access the BCIT's quiz for shortlisted people, so I missed my BCIT intake as well. Maybe it's not my time yet.. Hopefully I'll improve next time. ?

So, UBC ranks us on our GPA, CASPer, and Supplemental Application. It's out of 4. 1 means top 25%, 2 is top 50%, 3 is top 75% and 4 is bottom 25%. It's just my assumption, but they really weigh CASPER a lot. I read that someone on this thread got rejected with a 1 in grades, 2 in supplemental and 3 in CASPer. There are ways you can prepare for your CASPer, but I agree, it's not something you can study for. Maybe I will give the CASPer again, if BCIT, or Lanagar reject me ? but hoping for the best at this point, as I already have my BSc degree form UBC and I'm kinda sitting at home really lost hahah But yes, its awesome that you're researching ahead of time. You should definitely get involved in the community and join different types of volunteering places and clubs if u get the opportunity.

BCIT January 2021
Hi everyone. I have a BSc degree from UBC but my GPA for the pre-req courses is very low. 75% in A&P highschool: 71% Chem 11 (*** bc IB Chem ?) and 90% Math 69% Psych Didn't do Engl bc of IB credits 91% average for the other 2 course I have applied this time, but I am worried I won't get in. What do you think are my chances? I know they prioritize degree holder, but to what extent, because my GPA is significantly lower than my competitors. I have decent volunteer experience at the hospital for 4 years, and I've had food/cashier/customer service jobs for the past 4 years as well, and uni clubs. My question is, Should I retake some courses this fall so I can have a better chance for the next intake?? (I have already signed up for BHSC 1200 at BCIT but it is very expensive ($1800 ;-;) and I can drop it before August) so Im just wondering whether it's a good idea to be safe and retake the courses, or take my chances?? Thank you ? Does anyone know whether the Deadline for the September 2021 intake is still October 1 – November 30, 2020 or February 1 - March 15, 2021. Thanks a bunch!

I know they prioritize degree holder, but to what extent, because my GPA is significantly lower than my competitors. Should I retake some courses this fall so I can have a better chance for the next intake? Since I would want to apply for Sept 2021 by Jan 2021, I will have to take the biology requirement in one semester (Sept-Dec), which would be the BHSC1200 from BCIT. And I should retake an English and stats too. Im still thinking, about the course load, and if it would be manageable.

Depends on what number on the waitlist. I would send them an email to be sure. But also I would apply for the Jan one, because I don't think your sept one will be dropped. But you should email to be sure, they're fast repliers. all the best
