surviving school without study partners
I have a wonderful study group too. Used to study on my own and never knew the benefits of a study group. If you feel comfortable on your own kudos, if you don't and believe you need a group, make sure you join an effective group with serious students willing to share and not depend on you sorely. Unfortunately there are some sudents out there who are very selfish yet ready to take from you. I have come to realize that nursing school without a network system can be very stressfull. You never know what might be brewing.

Pls help on teaching project: "breast examination for women over 40ys"
I will be very glad if someone could give me a tip on the format of how to write a teaching plan for my project. My topic of choice is "Breast Examination for women over 40yrs", addressed to a group of women in a local church. I will also appreciate directions to a site where I can view sample nursing essays to get an idea of what to do and get the information from. Thanks

Help needed with medication problem. Thanks
Someone Pls help me with these problems, I do have an idea of how to go about them but I am confused. (N.B is flow rate always in ml/hr? what's the diff btn flow rate and drip rate) Thanks 1. Mr. Lee is to receive IV Heparin. The physician ordered 20,000 units of heparin in 500 ml of D5W to be infused at the rate of 1000 unite/hr. Calculate the flow rate in ml/hr. 2. Little Jose weighs 66 lb. Epinephrine 0.01 mg/kg IV q 5 min is ordered to treat his sinus bradycardia. Calculate the number of mg of epinephrine per dose. 3. Nipride has been ordered to titrate at 3 - 6 mcg/kg/min. The solution strength is 50 mg in 250 ml. Calculate the flow rate (ml/hr) for the upper range if the patient weighs 72.4 kg.

Roll Call - Introduce Yourselves, Texans!
Hi I am from Texas; I have 3 kids (13, 10 and 5) and live at Saginaw. I have a first degree in financial economics and this is a second chance to change carrier for a better life and also do what I enjoy doing most, which is helping others. I currently work as a PCA with a local agency and love my job, I did this to help me gain experience working with sick people, and yes, this has given me experience in working with Alzheimer's, paraplegic and Parkinson clients. I just got accepted into TCC and will start this spring; I would like to be a CRNA eventually. More power to nurses.

TCC Demensional Analysis
Actually yes, I just did. Call Bev tomorrow if you are still unable to register.

TCC Demensional Analysis
Thanks for clarifying this info, I guess I was half asleep on campus success. :-).I agree with you, dimensional analysis is not as scary as it sounds except when you have all the IV questions that requires thinking. Thanks Heloise this info benefited me too.

TCC Demensional Analysis
From my understanding, you take it with your clinical. The CID for 2008 is already out, download it, and review the info, and there you will see all the rules just as Heloisea has stated with some questions to try your hands on. :-)

Tarrant County College Class Schedules
They actually beat us up today at orientation and left many of us newbie's wondering"My God, will we make it?" But hey, we have created our beds and we will have to lie in it. We don't have a choice but to make it. I looked at my schedule this afternoon and simply said wow, my kids. I had a family meeting this evening and explained the situation to them, had a few tears from the younger one, and they all agreed to work with me by cleaning the hse, helping daddy in the kitchen, and most of all limiting the noise and stress level around the hse when I am studying. So guys' good luck to you all and we shall make it! :-)

TCC Applicants - Encouragement
u are such an encourager to "we" the freshmen . thanks for assuring most of us when we felt so low because of things we had read on this site, only to find out that we got in. many of these stories are certainly made up to put ppl thru 3mths of waiting hell. i honestly share sentiments with wannabrn. the only problem i have now is that, i am broke from buying all the stuff required, especially books . actually i have bought the uniform as well, as i wanted to try it on and make sure it fits before paying for it, i couldn't see how it will work with 99 students in a changing room all trying to find a good fit. besides, i thought it will be best to do this than dwell on a mere $5 dollar discount and go thru the trouble of waiting in line with 98 other students. :monkeydance: so heloisea3, tell me, how on earth do you read and study "kozier & erb's fundamentals of nursing: concepts, process, and practice"? the book is difficult to understand and honestly i have no clue as to what i am reading in preparation for 1st day of class? share your learning secrets with us.

TCC Spring 2008 Applicants?
Gal try again and work on Ur GPA if it's not that competitive. Whoever tells u that GPA doesn't matter is a liar (some ppl say so and dwell sorely on the TEAS). I had a good GPA of 4.0, completed all the perquisites, and did well on the science and math portion of TEAS but not very well on the English. Actually my overall percentile was 77.9%. Applied 1st time got in. I heard so many stories and that honestly made me go crazy during the last few months, but hey, I realized the GPA does matter and some of these stories are hog wash. Try again and I hope to see u walking down the corridors next semester. For now, I have started reading some 14 chapters they want us to read from 2 book b4 first day of class. Isn't that something? Good luck
