  1. Will do. Thanks.
  2. Has anyone been able to register for nursing classes? Everytime I try I get an error saying petition required blah, blah, blah... I guess all the drug screenings haven't come back yet or something. However I do see that some of the seats are taken... I don't get it.
  3. ]Ok, I'm getting demensional analysis down quite well, if I do say so myself... However, if I'm understanding correctly, Med. Symbols and Abbreviations are also on the foundations med. math test. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so where can I get some study material for the symbols (perferably online?) I also wanted to ask if conversion charts and calculators are allowed to be used on the test? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated... ]
  4. She speaks the truth... I would go as far as to say 90% of the rumors you hear are B/S. I do not doubt that folks with 4.0 GPA's get denied acceptance letters, it probably happens all the time, but those people probably didn't turn in all the required documentation for application. I think it is quite funny that most of the rumors start out like: "I know someone who...." This is a flag that usually means the person doesn't know the whole story. I didn't get in the first time myself, and I found it difficult to find out exactly what I needed to improve in order to get in next time. The rumors had my head spinning. Was it my GPA? Was it my HESI scores? Was it that "B" I made in Chemistry? I had no idea..... I decided one day to go talk with the Nursing Dept. secretary to get to the bottom of this just for my own peace of mind. As it turned out, I was taking Micro at the time of application, and although I was kicking butt with an "A", the semester was not over with and the Nursing Dept. can not count a grade in progress. That was enough to keep me from being competative with the other applicants and I was denied. It was simply not my time... I tried again for the Spring of '08 and that's all folks.... Moral of the story: Sometimes it's the little things that can get ya in a mess, but it can all be fixed. Congrats to the Spring '08 Nursing students, your hard work has paid off... And for the the ones that are shooting for the Fall, keep doin' your thing and save up some $$$. You'll need it when you get in....
  5. Thank you for your post. Now I'm somewhat relieved... I have a couple of more questions for ya though. Everyone I talk to says that it is impossible to go to nursing school and work a full time job simutaneously... Is there anyone that you know of who has tried? How are they doing balancing both? I understand that it would be very difficult if possible at all... Also, when would tuition be due? It seems like school is going to put me in the poor house after tuition, books, fees, uniforms, and the rest of the $$$ I have to dish out... I guess these are all questions I could be asking at orientation, but I figure the sooner I know the better, and I really appreciate the help so, thanks again.
  6. By the looks of things in my acceptance packet, I will not find out what my schedule will be untill December 7th which is the day we are registered for classes... However, the packet also says that registration will not start untill all required documents are turned into the nursing dept. Now here's where I get confused.... A CPR qualification is required to be on file with the nursing dept. before registration as part of the required documentation, but my CPR class is on January 7th??? Does this mean that I will not be registered untill after January 7th? If so, then when is tuition due? I know that the deadline for making changes to schedules is December 14th so it's not really making too much sense to me. Has anyone out there been through this before or has a clue to how this is supposed to work?
  7. Anyone have any idea when tuition is due? Damn, this is getting expensive quick!!!
  8. I'm a guy, but I'll still see ya in school...
  9. I made it too! Good Luck everyone, see you all in the spring.
  10. I didn't have micro or concepts of pe done when I applied for the spring '08 semester. I didn't get in either... Although I had maintained an "A" throughout the duration Microbiology, the nursing dept. informed me they do not check on classes that are in session at the time of application, and if it's not on your transcript it doesn't count... It never hurts to apply though.
  11. I recieved a letter today that says thanks for applying and was sent to inform me that my application is complete. I guess I'll take that as good news for now. Good luck to all applicants.
  12. Go to the public health department in your county. They will give you all the shots you need at very affordable prices... I just finished my Hep B series, and got a TB skin test. My insurance wouldn't cover my doctor's price of like $186.00 per Hep B shot, however I got them at the health department for like $35.00 a piece. Saved me a fortune.... Check it out!
  13. I just went to an information session today and was told by the nursing dept. that a gpa of 3.2 is actually quite competitive. Think about it, 400 applicants per semester and 100 accepted... 100 people with a 4.0? No, I'm not buying that. You don't even have to blow the TEAS test out of the water as long as you do good on the science portion... Perhaps your friend didn't have all his/her pre-reqs. complete or something? Another thing they said was not to buy into the rumors because most of them are really silly....
  14. I have applied for the spring '08 semester, and hopefully I will get in this time... I applied for the fall '08 semester, without luck. I was told by the dept. that to get in without pre-reqs complete. So I know from experience that your chances go up if you have all your pre-reqs done.... Good luck to everyone applying.
  15. sorry typo...
