  1. As a current Arlington resident, I'd advise looking in South (south of I-20) or West Arlington (west of Bowen). Those are the nice parts of the city and you'll avoid the stadium traffic that way.
  2. This is the second time I've heard this advice. Thanks for the brand recommendation. What was the job search like for you? How soon did you have a job lined up? Did you or anyone you know of get positions in specialty units? I ask because I keep reading conflicting information on whether newbs can get onto those units right out of school. That, and I'm interested in working in the ICU.
  3. No problem, just busting your chops. That's lines up with what I've heard through the grapevine described as the "hell semester".
  4. And gents too I presume? I noticed that there were actually quite a few of us of the Y chromosome there at the orientation (roughly 20). There are four of us in my clinical group! That has to be a rarity.
  5. What did everyone think of orientation? Did you end up with a schedule you like? I've got clinical M/W 1-7, Foundations T/Th 2:15-4:15 and skills on Thursday morning. It sounds like it's going to be a lot of work, but I'm looking forward to the challenge and can't wait for late August to get here.
  6. I'm in! (again...) Good luck to all those applying for the Spring.
  7. From reading the thread for TCC hopefuls for the Fall of '07, acceptance letters didn't arrive until the third week of April. So, we're not too far away from getting the news.
  8. Did everyone get their application turned in?
  9. I was in the 99th percentile. Don't sweat the TEAS. Out of all the hoops you have to jump through to get admitted, that's the easiest in my opinion.
  10. I hope so, I just worry that they might hold it against me that I turned down a spot for the Spring class.
  11. Anyone else out there looking to apply to TCC for admission in the Fall of 2008? I had applied and was accepted for the Spring class, but had to turn the spot down for personal reasons. I'm going to the information session on the 6th and will be applying for the Fall. My brother in-law started in January so I plan on pumping him for information every step of the way!
  12. Dropped off the application package today. It was kind of anticlimactic putting it inside of a big steel box. Now it's time to wait...
  13. Ladyk, care to elaborate on the differences between the TEAS prep book and the actual exam?
  14. Oh, it has been. But chemistry has been a lot easier than Micro was. I have heard it through the grapevine that the study guide for the TEAS sold at the bookstore leaves something to be desired. I was thinking about getting this instead, some other nursing schools that use the TEAS recommend it. That's good that you are taking a CNA course. I'm still trying to figure out where I'm going to work while I'm in nursing school (assuming I get in, knock on wood). I'm going to volunteer at one of the large hospitals to hopefully get my foot in the door for a unit secretary position. Best of luck to you also.
  15. I will be applying for the spring also. I'm currently finishing the "summer of fun" (I took Micro in Summer I and am currently taking Chemistry in Summer II). Only two more weeks left! Of course, I'll need to start preparing for the TEAS at that point. No rest for the weary...
