Spring 2007 Classes
I'm just taking Physiology and then I'll be done with all my prereqs and coreqs. I'm excited!

Are we all old???
I'm 17 (since August) and will be done with my pre-req's for an ADN at the end of next Spring. I'm so excited! I always shock people in class with my age though... it's kinda funny. :)

Anatomy Summer 2006 Club
I'm taking a 5.5 week Anatomy class. My college separates A and P. So far it's been going well... but it is an AWFUL lot of work. ALL memorization, and more memorization... I'm hoping to take Physiology in the fall, but I have to wait for the college to put in my chem assessment scores before I can register.

Accepted to Austin Community College Today!
YAYY!!!!!!!! :balloons: :balloons: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Do you mind me asking all of the nosy questions..??? Like... was it your first time applying, what was your GPA, how many course classes did you have done? I'm really curious since I've heard it takes forever to get in, and I'm wondering if I will even have a chance to get in the first time I apply next spring... Thanks! Adela

A&P Summer 06'
I got Mosby's Musculature and Bones & Joints flash cards. And... my coloring book is by Kapit and Elson. It's called "The Anatomy Coloring Book." They also have a phisiology and microbiology one. I might get them if I find this one to be useful. I ordered them from Amazon. FREE super saver shipping!!!

Birth Shot Records for school??????
Yeah... that's a pain. I'm still a high school student, but homeschooled. My mom transferred my shot records to a local pediatrics place a few years ago... We called them to have them transferred to my new doctor the other day, and they told me that they THREW THEM AWAY!! So, I don't know what I'm going to do... Probably will have to get the antibody test deally.

Anyone at ACC or UT AE MSN?
I'm at ACC right now doing pre-req's. I'll be done with them hopefully this fall, and will be applying next Spring for their nursing program (to start in the fall.). I'm really excited about it! Right now I'm doing all of the non-nursing courses in the program also, so I should have all of those done by the end of this year. Good luck with entering! I'm not sure how competetive ACC is... so I'm interested to hear how your application/admission goes. Keep us posted!

A&P Summer 06'
Good!! I was told that it would be a good idea... and it seemed like it would. I'm just going to listen to them in my spare time, or in the car (like I have any spare time... ). But, I'm thinking maybe in the car... I drive around a lot to different things... The flash cards look really good to me. About half of the several hundred in there are muscles, and the rest bones and joints. It has a picture of the location on the one side, and the muscles or bone that should be named colored in (it's more like a drawing I guess). And then on the other side is the name of the bone/muscle, it's function, origin, insertion, and innervation. They look really helpful to me... I guess I'll find out though whenever I start using them. :)

A&P Summer 06'
I'm taking a 5.5 anatomy class in the last half of the summer (July-August). My school divides it into an Anatomy course, and then a Physiology course, instead of two A&P courses. I'm taking Physiology in the fall. To prepare... I bought the anatomy coloring book, and Mosby's anatomy flash cards (muscles and bones). I also have some medical terminology CD's that I'm going to listen to. They were my brothers... I'm not sure how good they are. I'm thinking that they might help me remember word roots and by that being able to figure out the meaning of a word by breaking it up, and putting the meanings together. If that makes any sense at all!!

Anyone here going to ACC???
I'm taking anatomy at RGC. It's the only 5.5 anatomy class they have in the last half of the summer. Thanks for the prof opinions! :) Well, I'm going to try to CLEP college algebra. But, if I don't pass it, then I'll probably take either it or college math. I'm just hoping I pass the CLEP!

Anyone here going to ACC???
Yayyy!! Another ACC student! Hope you get in!! April 7th isn't that far away... So, you can take the preliminary nursing course (RSNG 1105) just whenever you put your application in?? They make it sound like it has to be accepted first... I think it says it can be taken after "placement on the ranking list" or something... Because I was wondering about that... Well, so far I've taken a lot of the non-nursing classes inside the course. Spanish, English comp 1, and Intro to speech (Petkus is AWESOME). I've taken all those online, plus history 2 and texas gov (before I decided to do the nursing program). This summer I HAVE to take the 5.5 week anatomy course in the last half. And unfortunately, the prof hasn't been picked yet (it's a "staff" class). :uhoh21: I am praying hard that I get a decent professor. Because I really want to keep my good grades (4.0 right now). And... for the rest. I'm taking physiology, pharmacology, and intro to microbiology this fall. And then I'm going to clep college algebra, human growth and dev, and intro to psychology somewhere in there. It'll be busy! But, I should have all my prereqs and non-nursing courses done by this Dec! To add to it all... I'm still in high school. But, I'm homeschooled so I can work on it at twice the speed if I want to (which is what I'm doing now). I should finish it by June, if I keep working really hard on it. I'll be graduating basically a year early. :balloons: Which professors did you like for Physiology, Intro to Micro, and Pharmacology?

duct tape is amazing! :) a non-serious thread
Huh, that's pretty cool if it works on warts. However... my mom has always told me never to keep duct tape in contact with skin for extended periods of time, because something in it can cause poisoning, or something weird like that. Anyone heard this? I'll have to ask her about it again...

Shy guys
Hey! I'm not a guy... but I'm a teen, and know how you feel! Gosh... one time I stood up to give a presentation on my trip overseas, and turned BEET red. I just felt it, and couldn't do anything to stop it. And, I actually wasn't nervous either!!! Now... violin recitals. My knees'll be knocking... So, hang in there! Get a good, nice, helpful prof if you can for speech. I had to take intro to speech this semester as a pre-req, and so far it's been wonderful... And, I bet you'll be a great nurse! Just remember... they're not going to shoot you if you stutter once or twice. I repeat that to myself a lot... You can do it!! I've never taken meds either, and don't plan on it, even though my music teacher does. As far as classes go, if you want to overcome your fear of public speaking, take public speaking. It'll might be tough, but it's sure a good way to get over it! Interpersonal communication is about dyad communication (between two people). That might have less stand up and speak stuff. Good luck!
