First Time TX RN License Renewal
I am not set to renew until October. Will there be an obvious link to click to renew? Right now there isn’t anywhere that says “renew” , so that’s why I’m asking.

First Time TX RN License Renewal
Hi everyone, I will be renewing for the first time in October. I understand I do not have to complete the CEUs for the first time, but how will I actually renew my license? Will there be a link on my Texas Nurse Portal page to click and pay? Will I receive an email with a link through Nursys? I have combed the BON's website, but I haven't found an answer yet. Thank yall!

Best Advice for a Nursing Student
Hello all, I'm starting my nursing program in two weeks. Do you have any advice for me? If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself before you started your nursing school journey?

Any scrub techs here?
Good luck to you!

Any scrub techs here?
Hi, nice to meet you! UTA's AO BSN program was actually my number one choice until I found out about WGU's online pre-licensure program. It's super flexible and works better with my schedule. I was accepted to the program and start September 1st! How is your progress coming? I'm super excited í ½í¸Š

Starting my Journey to Nursing school
Congrats!! It was exciting for me to read that you were accepted, I can't even imagine how awesome that must have felt for you! The letter was sent fairly quickly as well; did it say how many other people applied at the same time? I plan on submitting my application in May; I only have two classes to finish and then my checklist will finally be complete! Do you have any tips as far as making your application stand out? When are you starting clinicals? I've heard various scenarios, some people say you start them early on while others say you basically finish most of your online classes and then do your clinicals towards the end of the program. Is it possible to have a full time job and participate in clinicals?

Starting my Journey to Nursing school
Hello everyone, I am currently finishing up my last two courses (A&PII lecture & lab) and I plan to submit my official WGU Pre-Licensure BSN program application in mid-late May, depending on when the grades for those last two courses are put into the system. I will be applying to the Houston cohort. I found this thread and it has answered lots of questions I've had, so thank you!

A bit childish but...
Congrats! I am in Houston and hoping to eventually get into the WGU program. I have one semester left of pre-reqs and then I will have the checklist completed! Do you have any advice that you can give me as far as getting accepted into the program?? What were your GPA and TEAS scores like? I'd also love to know more specific info about the program as far as your clinical sites. I work at Memorial Hermann Memorial City and was wondering if it's a clinical site, and what the clinical dates were like. Thanks!!!

WGU Pre-Licensure BSN Program
Hello! I am currently completing my pre-requisites for the program; I'm almost done. I have not completed Biochemistry or Pharmacology yet, but I read that I can complete those once I am accepted into the program- is this correct? What is the clinical rotation like? I have seen the sample rotation schedule posted on the website, but it is a bit confusing. I currently work 40 hours a week at Memorial Hermann Memorial City. I have heard that this is a clinical site; is that still true? If so, is it possible to complete clinical hours after a regular work day shift? Are weekend clinicals also an option? Sorry for this bombardment, but I've been looking at so many nursing school options and WGU seems to be the best fit for me; almost too good to be true! Thanks for your time!

Has anyone been through this program? I'd appreciate some personal insight if you have!

Nursing, Hurricanes, and Floods.
I also work in Houston, but live about 60 miles from my hospital. I have packed a bag to take to work tomorrow, just in case. I'm lucky enough to have family here, so if I do get stranded, someone will be able to take care of my daughter while I'm stuck at the hospital. The storm isn't supposed to come in until late Friday/early Saturday, so since I work days, I'm hoping I will make it home just fine. I'm still going to be prepared, though! Good luck to you, and hopefully Harvey isn't as bad as they're making him out to be!!

Gross Things Patients Do
- Any scrub techs here?
Hey y'all! I'm pretty new here and wondering if anyone is currently a scrub tech pursuing a nursing degree. I'd like to make some new friends who are in the same boat as I am. -Ri- University of Texas at Arlington AO-BSN
Thank you! My advisor told me HESI, but I will definitely re-check.- Assisting/scrubbing in the OR..
A little background on me, first: I am a CST, I've been scrubbing and assisting in the OR for a little over seven years now. I am currently taking pre-reqs for nursing school and I should hopefully be getting my RN, BSN within the next two years. I have scrubbed and assisted in thousands of surgeries- ranging from phacoemulsifications to spine 360's, CABGs, bowel resections, hearts, transplants of all kinds, etc. It is very rare that a circulating nurse scrubs in. The only time this really happens is if another scrub tech or assistant is unavailable, because as a circulator, you cannot leave your unsterile position in the operating room- what happens if we need something that isn't in the room? That's when the circulator goes and gets whatever is needed, and opens it onto the field! So, if you are concerned about your wrist and retracting, I really think you will be fine; the only thing is, 70% of circulating is charting-- not good for carpal tunnel/ tendonitis.... You will definitely have to lift heavy patients, their limbs, and equipment on a daily basis. A 400+ lb patient is commonplace in our OR (Houston, TX, bariatrics) , so there is a lot of muscle required to be in the operating room. Good luck with your future endeavors!!!- Got a nurse aide fired... did I do the right thing?
You definitely did the right thing! As professionals, we care for patients, and she obviously did not. Patient neglect is a serious issue, and you were completely right for standing up for all of the patients in the facility. I certainly would not want someone who was supposed to be taking care of a family member slacking off, sleeping on the couch!- Fall semester classes '17
Good luck! Chem can be difficult, depending on your teacher!! I just finished Statistics TODAY with an A, and I'm super excited! Such a weight off my shoulders! I have a two week break until I start A&P I, Microbiology, and American Literature II. I'm so close to being done, I can almost smell nursing school!! LOL- How difficult are Intro to Bio and Intermediate Algebra?
Not difficult!! Use Youtube and Google to reinforce the topics your teacher taught you. Also, if possible, always enroll early and choose your teacher!! I love ratemyprofessor.com ! There is always great insight about the instructor and their teaching methods. The teacher makes all the difference!- HESI A2
Thank you for your feedback! That's very helpful. I was thinking of just using online quizzes, but I am really trying to be as best of a candidate as possible, and a super high score won't do anything but help! Is the test kind of like a grade school benchmark exam? General knowledge in math, reading, science etc? - Any scrub techs here?
