Scammers Caught Selling Fake Nursing Diplomas
It makes tital sense. I'm in Florida. I've worked with A FEW nurses that baffled me. Not knowing really basic things- 5 rights/disposal and sharps/that you cannot abandon your patients bc you are tired/hungry/etc. Have lost count of how many times I've wondered where they went to school. At least there is an answer, now.

Anyone else wearing old scrubs whilst shopping/running errands?
I am with you. I wear my old green surgical scrubs out for errands. Everyone cuts a wide path around me and they pull their masks up over their noses, as well. They are comfy. I don't see why anyone should be dressed up to run errands. To each their own, I suppose. I get dressed up for occasions, interviews and the dressage ring; otherwise whatever is clean and comfy.

Where to go as a nurse if you dont want to work with patients at ALL?
You are obviously really intelligent and have real grit. MDS, informatics and research. Also look into Trancendental Meditation. My IQ is way up there. I get impatient and annoyed when people don't get information the first time. I took up TM and it has truly helped me stay calm in the face of idiocy. Best luck. I hope you find the perfect spot. Nursing isn't all about direct care. We need analysts to get the data together so we can all practice better.

Vaccine controversy
i am one of those "please don't use the 'q' word". i fake crying when people say it. i am joking. BUT in nursing school our antique proctor told us to NEVER say quiet.

Vaccine controversy
I give them resources. I take them through how I am required to vet information when I am writing. It's circumspect but it works about half the time. I give them information I have and the tools to find true, reliable sources. So they come away with education and the means to investigate all questions better. I work with peds. Some of my kids cannot be vaccinated. There is plenty of misinformation and fear out there. Inviting people into better understanding and knowledge is easier than sufferring the consequence. Even if inside i am cringing and crying. Carry on, pass the kielbasa.

If the government legalizes marijuana in the US...
Derived? Not really. They are adulterated chemical copies of substances that come from plants.

If the government legalizes marijuana in the US...
If your kid has seizures CBD can work wonders.

If the government legalizes marijuana in the US...
You obviously haven't got a clue what reefer madness refers to. I'm finished responding to you. Have a lovely day.

If the government legalizes marijuana in the US...
Actually the term 'marijuana' was part of the whole reefer madness demonization of the plant. The name of the substance is cannabis. It isn't political to call a thing by it's actual name. Great you are pro legalization. Fantastic. Getting everyone to understand the idea that this substance has genuine benefits is the goal. Would you like us to start calling oxycodone 'ox' and xanax 'xannies' too? Enjoy your nostalgia. I'll keep my 17hh warmblood (horse) and keep going cross country with him as well. Fail to see any irony. I do see a snarky self righteous bit of ignorance, though.

If the government legalizes marijuana in the US...
And what about the therapeutic compounds in the cannabis plant? Anyone go through the American Cannabis Nurses Association certification? Unlike alcohol, no one has ever died directly from marijuana use. We haven't scratched the surface of the possible uses for the PLANT. It is a plant; not a man made chemical cocktail. It is not hepato toxic. Does not cause slowing in the gut. Yet offers a new treatment for pain relief, anti convulsive, anti emetic... To quote comedian Denis Leary , " Pot doesn't lead to other drugs...it leads to carpentry." The fear mongering over recreational cannabis is ridiculous. Ask 5 police officers who they would rather have to interact with: drunk or someone who is high on cannabis. I have. They all said cannabis. By the way: it's called Cannabis. Not weed or Marijuana or other street names. I don't smoke weed, drink alcohol or even take NSAIDS. I have family members who participate. They live in legal states. I think it comes down to personal choice. If you are not harming anyone or yourself what you do on your own time is your business. Please educate yourselves with real information about the plant.

Best bra for nurses
I was wondering the same thing; which is how I found this thread...if you have nothing to contribute please delete your snarky posts. I have been through a few. I think sports bras work best. I find, despite the expense, good jogging ones are the best for staying in place, not binding or poking or slipping off my shoulders. I am ordering some from true & co. bc a coworker recommended them. We went to white scrubs so i have to replace all my understuff with muted colors. My Jockey bras have held up (lasted longest before needing replacement, lolz) best, btw. Let us know if you find a good one!

When they're SO sure they're right...
Because they've had some negative experience with being vaccinated.

When they're SO sure they're right...
blood glucose reading 242. pt: (refusing any intervention)that's my normal blood sugar. I'm just sweet natured. my brother ( worst patient ever) calling me from his remote cabin on top of a mountain an hour drive from any civilization: " I was chopping wood and fell. A big splinter of wood went into my leg and then punched through the other side. After I pull it out should I flush the hole out with hot water or peroxide?" Me "how big is this splinter?" Him," about an inch wide, give or take." Me" GO TO THE E.R. PETE. NOW" Him, " nah. I got a brand new turkey baster. I remember you said something about peroxide. Don't remember if it's good or bad." Me," GO TO THE E.R."

LPN-RN Bridge Programs in Florida. New State Rule :( STINKS
It's Santa Fe College...isn't it? Try Rasmussen, Jersey or Taylor. Yes they are expensive but they are all professional. They are private. They have a vested interest in your success. Pretty sure they are all accredited and most go to BSRN instead of just ASRN. Best of luck!

Violence in Nursing
I was assaulted by a supervisor. I am a different ethnicity than she. She habitually called me racist nicknames. A patient of her ethnicity called her on it. He was defending me ( his nurse) and being older than her, spoke to her in a chiding manner. She waited around a corner and straight arm clotheslined me then closed her arm around my neck. She cut off my ability to breathe. I've been a victim before. I've studied self defense. I've worked on it. All that practice kicked in and my reaction broke her nose. I am not proud of hurting anyone. I am grateful all of this was witnesses by a retired judge who happened to be ambulating by. All of it. I lost my job. I've been kind of black listed. I was counseled by HR to not press charges. I pressed charges. I reported her to the board. I have had some truly wonderful people supporting me; telling me not to back down. An attorney got in touch with me. We sued the crap out of the company that fired me. I paid off my student loans and have returned to school to further my education so that one day I might teach nursing to young nurses. That said, I have been sorely abused by patients and have never considered what they do as criminal. I know it's wrong, I know it's bad. I meditate, I pray. I forgive. I still can't watch when my stitches are done or taken out ( I can do so for others all day). Somebody has to endure the worst part of people. That's me. I put myself aside when my scrubs go on. I suit up; I am a nurse--my personal life isn't part of that. Game face on. Everyone handles this sort of thing differently. I strive to approach everything from a point of compassion. I hope we can all be better for each other, incrementally, every day. I don't have any ill will toward the supervisor that choked me. I hope she learned something, I hope she has grown from the experience. I hope she never hurts anyone again. Thanks for reading. *hugs*

Students asking for free money
During my LPN program every single person who worked, failed. I don't have family. I don't have any backup. I will do what I must. I already am working 60 + hours a week saving up before my program starts. Crowdfunding isn't for everyone but how nice it exists as an option.

Students asking for free money
I am bridging from LPN to RN. During orientation we are warned that working is detrimental to school. Our clinical schedule can change without much notice. Our course work is massive. So, distasteful as it may be, private funding is an option. Its not a quick fix for sudden expenses. Funds generate for 60 to 90 days before they can be withdrawn. I'm not eligible for most grant and scholarship money. I can take out loans, and I am. There are limits to how much one can borrow, though.

Eating on the Night Shift
I work 12 hours overnight, 5 days a week. A fellow nurse suggested Orgain protein shakes. I love them i mix two servings and keep it in a thermos to keep cold. I just drink a little whenever hunger strikes. Very quick, very healthy, very convenient. And i no longer stop for fast food breakfast on my way home!
