  1. Just get the shot or get an insurance job
  2. If you read my post at all I stated how I fell into nursing. I also stated I have 3 years of direct patient care in an ER. Trauma ER. So no I DO HAVE EXPERIENCE. I’m looking into a career change but need to feed my dog while I do so. This is why I came here for advice from nonjudgmental peers. Work on your compassion and reading comprehension Thank you! I will look into this, that sounds more up my alley
  3. I usually LOVE my coworkers LOL its literally just the patients I dont like. I feel like people are reading it as I hate everyone and thats not the case. I just dont enjoy patient care constantly.
  4. Thank you! I had not considered pharmaceuticals! I will look into that today!
  5. Yes I do, I have friends and family. I dont have to get them water, reexplain simple things to them 2 times, put up with disrespectful behaviors like them talking on their cell phone while I'm helping them ect. Dont get me wrong I dont hate all the patients. I have a few I love to help, but the annoyances outweigh those by far. Thanks I did search this forum and reddit. All suggest things such as case management or outpatient or switching units which...all still have a lot of patient interaction. Hoping for a FEW more ideas. If you cant help thats great, but maybe others have felt similar and found hidden gems.
  6. I am very rarely behind. I work in the ER most often and I dont really talk to my patients, I get in and get out. I dont ask about their day, chat about kids ect. Give meds, assess, vitals and leave the room. This saves me a lot of time. I also cluster care. I'm not going into the room 6 times. I am sure to ask if they need anything before I go get meds for them for example. This way I can give them their blanket, give meds, and then leave. Eliminates running back and forth. I use my downtime to help the other nurses around me. If they don't need me then I sit at the nurses' station and eat saltines LOL
  7. I'm 25 been a nurse for maybe 3 years now
  8. Please dont judge me as I am already judging myself hard enough for paying all this money for a degree I hate. I KNEW nursing wasn't for me 1st semester of nursing school. I am not a people person and found myself annoyed with the patients very quickly. My parents and friends told me this wasnt a field for me and my personality, but I for some reason stuck with it. I was 17 and figured "I'm in too deep now may as well finish because nursing credits won't transfer anywhere". So I graduated and got 3 years of ED experience. Hated every minute of it. The patients were often abusive and unappreciative. I felt like a maid who passed out pills between GSWs. I took advice from this forum and tried outpatient. I enjoyed that environment and schedule more but hated one thing: The patients. In my outpatient role I literally put IVs in all day and gave IV contrast. I had the patients for 15 mins max, but had to ask them several questions to determine the reason for the study/safety of IV contrast. I found myself ANNOYED asking them the questions!! Having to repeat myself because they're on their phone, asking them to "take their shirt and bra off and put the gown on with the opening in the back" and returning to find them with the gown over their shirt, bra, and coat. ANNOYED at patients talking down on me. I'm so defeated and depressed. I paid all this money and worked so hard for this degree. I just cant stand the patients. My coworkers seem to like me and I'm a good nurse. I'm just not happy. I've tried multiple hospitals and a different setting, but the underlying annoyance is the patients it seems. Are there any nursing fields I may be better suited to? I have my bachelors degree in nursing. I was halfway through NP school before I realized becoming and NP won't solve my problem.
  9. Left the ER for outpatient...today we had a patients IV infiltrate normal saline. The tech called me and let me know the infusion was stopped, IV removed and a compress applied. Pt in no distress. I was behind schedule and working with a patient so I let them know I’d be down in a minute to eval. My non nurse manager is hemming me up for not dropping everything and running down to that “medical emergency” . ??? lawd I ain’t know that was an emergency like that LOL
  10. Is it normal in home health to be required by your employer to show your drivers ID to patients at each visit? Seems unsafe
  11. I became a nurse at 18 because I thought "sweet, high pay and only 3 days week". Yeah...I was 18. I'm a BSN prepared nurse and have been in the ER for 3 years and hate it. I hate patient care and dealing with the public. I hate the long hours/weekends/holidays. I went back for FNP solely for the money. I'm halfway through FNP school and start clinicals this fall. Im having second thoughts thinking what if I graduate this and still hate it? So I've been thinking maybe getting away from bedside or finding another career. However I keep thinking of the time/money wasted on nursing and fnp. I'm also not sure what I would even change to. I've been told im an excellent nurse and do provide great patient care, I just dont enjoy this. I get anxious thinking about having to go into work and deal with the patients for 12 hours. I hate missing time with family and the erratic hours. I'm just..unhappy :( So any advice from more seasoned nurses?
  12. I never took the GRE. Not needed for fnp online
  13. Maybe 2 weeks. I applied for summer but was put in the fall class. They did not have all my LOR or transcripts by the deadline. They give you 30 days after the deadline to get all those things in. You just must submit and pay by the deadline.
  14. I was accepted to the online program and did not have an interview
