Professor Bloopers

What is the dumbest/most ignorant thing you have heard a professor say? Here are some of mine:

From my Biology prof:

Photosynthesis is an example of matter being created out of energy.

There is no difference between enthalpy and entropy.

We were learning about fertilization and blocks to polyspermy. Someone asked if it ever happens that one egg is fertilized by two sperm. She said she wasn't sure but that sometimes in IVF they use 2 sperm to fertilize the egg. Uh, I don't think so!

Here's another one. It's only her personal opinion but I still think it's incredibly ignorant. We were talking about trisomy21. She wasn't able to explain why the extra 21st chromosome causes all the problems associated with Down Syndrome, but she said the egg would have been better dying before implantation. Apparently she doesn't realize that if not for the adaptability of cells and their ability to survive under less than optimal conditions, none of us would be here today.

A professor said that the Great Lakes are saltwater. It was an English class, not a Geology class, so I guess I can forgive him. I'm from Michigan, though, and I told him that we get our water from the Great Lakes. He said that they must desalinize it first!

Haven't encountered a professor who would throw around false facts....sorry you have to put up with the water dude...

No specifics, but....

I had a brand-new instructor that came in the first day and announced "we will learn this information together." Throughout the semester, she was using others' powerpoints that she tried to pass off as her own and would have no clue when we would ask questions or ask for clarification - she couldn't even pronounce some of the words on "her" PP. Our class really struggled through her class/exams, needless to say. She was terrible! She lasted one semester after ours before the school replaced her.

I was a little unhappy with our (young female) A & P II instructor who must have said a half dozen times that there was ABSOLUTELY no reason a woman would need her ovaries, etc., once she's done child bearing and would really be better off without them. I thought that thinking went out about 25 years ago?!?!

This isn't an example of a blooper exactly but it's something I hate! I'm taking an online class so I haven't met my professor and I doubt if she even put this in herself, but at the end of every exam the last question is (no points for it), was this exam easy and fair? easy but unfair? Difficult and fair? Or Difficult and unfair?

I think it's really stupid. I always put difficult but fair, because I can't see how it would be un-fair . . . the funny part is at the end after you submit they show you the answers and it always says the "correct" answer is easy and fair. Ha. Trust me when I say these exams are not easy.

I have an instructor who is very country and mispronounces everything - even medical terms and words that a nurse should know. The best one was her trying to say "faux pas" and it came out "foo paw". I am from Louisiana and speak some French, and I had to put my head on my desk to keep from busting a gut on that one. I can see mispronouncing some things, but this instructor sounds truly uneducated.

I was doing a density exercise in chem lab and I had little water bubbles sticking to my sample that was in the water. I was gently tapping the side of the beaker to get the bubbles off and it was working. The lab instructor said that would take too long, and she took the beaker and started tapping it on the edge of the sink. It broke! So I had to do the whole lab over again.

:lol2: ROFL Our A&P teacher was poking fun at one of the other A&P teachers who pronounces "Larynx and Pharynx" in a peculiar way ( Southern Texan style)
