Procedures as an FNP

Hi, I was wondering if anyone who's a FNP has been trained in procedures by the doctor they work with. Any procedures, like biopsies, paracentesis, etc. Thank you!

I’ve been shown how to perform a knee tap,  place a chest tube and a bedside cystoscopy, although the MDs usually perform themselves.

*I work in an acute care hospital

I suture (which I did a lab on in school); I also do I&Ds, nail trephination, superficial foreign body removal, and ear irrigation,

I used to go to the ACEP conferences and pick up some skills, and the consensus was if you were trained then sure do them and bill for it.

I do I & D,  suturing if it is very simple,  IUD removals, nexplanon placement and removal,  Candidia injections, cryotherapy.   I could do a lot more....those are just things I chose to get trained in . I don't do toenail removals, Iud placements or knee/shoulder/hip injections

I suture, do all joint injections and I & Ds. I was taught joint injections by my supervising physician. I work in occupational medicine and we do joint injections quite frequently. I was also taught how to graft and tie over bolsters.

Can you successfully bill for the procedures that you end up doing?  If so, at what rate?

What procedures can you not bill for?

I work at an on site occ med clinic so billing is only on paper. My services are paid for in advance for the contractual period- hope that makes sense.

There are billing levels built into our software that goes by the size of the laceration repair and the type (simple, complex)- hoep that makes sense.
