Preparing for BOLC

Hey everyone,

BOLC is just 3 months away for those of us who will be attending the July class, and it's fast approaching. I'm trying to get all finances in order and purchase items every month little by little. Does anyone know the thread with the suggested packing list and helpful items we should bring. I remember a previous post from someone who just attended BOLC and they suggested a few items that we should bring and would be helpful. I can't seem to find it through the search engine and wanted to know if anyone knew the exact link.

Thanks

I am going to be stationed at Bragg. Thanks for the e-mail with attachments. I will definitely get reading tomorrow. How is your experience thus far? Shouldn't you be sleeping right now and getting ready for that early wake-up?

I don't know when I'm going but I'd love the list. I don't know how you send the pms?

I'd really appreciate that list too if you wouldn't mind.

Thanks!!

I am also at BOLC now. :) If you are a direct commission, don't count on a paycheck for about 30 days ... I reported on 23 March and didn't get paid until 15 April. Also, as a new accession, you'll be eligible for a one-time $2500 pay advance, which is basically an interest-free loan -- they'll deduct a little over $100/paycheck over the next 12 months. I took that loan, and I am glad I did! It helped me get through all those days without pay -- my last day at my old ER job was 3 March, and I hadn't had a paycheck since 11 March! Ugh.

Will be at Bragg also! Can't wait for BOLC!

I'm wondering if my pay will be fine (no delays)....I've been in the MyPay system for a couple years- I opted for the monthly stipend when I signed on- ah, well...it's all good! :D

I am in the same boat as ad33088 and am hoping that my pay will also not be delayed during my Aug OBLC training for reserves. I believe that since we are in Mypay already it shouldn't be a problem. The thing is that we may not be getting travel pay until about 30 days. We would use our government travel card for authorized expenses, i.e. lodging, until our travel pay kicked in. I am not sure what the case is though...but I have a mortgage to pay...

My buddy just got back from BOLC. He got around 800 for travel and perdiem. He got that about 3 weeks after being back. He still hasnt been paid for BOLC regular pay. Hes been back around a month I believe. Weve been in Reserves over a year and have mypay and getting our monthly reserve checks so thats not it.

If I go to reserve BOLC I am definitely planing on not getting paid in a timely fashion. Sucks...
