Does anyone work in a positive work environment? You know, good teamwork or maybe good Dr.- nurse relations. i seen lots of ventings threads (understandably) but not many on the posi side of things. I'll start:

I'm learning to be a UC and I'm terrrible at it but everyone is patient with me. Plus the nurses teach me the tricks of the trade when its slow.

I work on a busy med-surg unit that's stressful. But we help each other out and I like who I work fun, sometimes it's even fun.

Every workplace is going to have it's issues - it's very hard to find a perfect work environment.

While people might complain about benefits or pay or scheduling where I work...

We have a great team and that's why we stay there. We've had some nurses on our unit for 30+ years! I personally think a teaching hospital is the best for the nurse-doctor relationship. It's more of a team mindset, you know? There are so many people involved with the care - med students, residents, fellows, attendings, nurse practitioners, and of course RNs - and we really work together well. We call our docs by their first names. It's an ICU, so there's always docs on call right there in the unit so we don't have to call them at home in the middle of the night to wake them up.

I've worked in community hospitals before and much much prefer the teaching environment.

I never thought I would be so happy with my new work place. I did rotations on other units in this hospital in a new grad internship and have floated to other units with my preceptors and I really enjoy working here.

I now work neuro advanced care and there's always heavy lifting to be done or people freaking out and it's just a given that everyone works together.

Also, it's a big teaching hospital/trauma center and it's a given that there will always be somebody standing around who doesn't know what's goin on and asking a hundred questions. right now that person is me!

I'm really learning a lot, although the new night shift i'm on, they'e kinda an oddball bunch. There's not a lot of experience or long time employees, and an increased number of foreign people;but they are all geniune people with a lot of heart.

plus, i'm a geek for the travel channel and i like to get to know people with different backgrounds.

things are comin' up daisies for me!

I am very happy with my position. I work with very understanding and helpful MD's and other advanced practice nurses. I have the autonomy and control that I want and I do like my job for the most part.

Please know that many of us do complain about things that we can't change. However, for the most part, most of us are happy with our jobs.

i love my job and look forward to going back to work if i've been off for a few days! great people with team work ethic makes for a nice place. it can get crazy at times but that's life. we have fun and get the job done. lucky me.

No place is going to be perfect, but I'm happy where I am. Most of the docs I work with are great and there is some good teamwork here.

Stessors are very different for UC vs. RN's. We have a very different picture of a Good Day.

I really like my unit and the people I work with. ER. Get along good with all the docs and even feel respected by them and almost all the people I work with. Lots of laughing and support for each other at work. It took me a while to find this situation. But everyone will find their niche sooner or later. Liked the med/surg floor I was on too, but didn't like the unsafe ratios, etc.

Please note that I fully understand and realize its very neccesary for people to have a place to vent and I'm not condemning anyone at all for ever doing so. I also know there are many more good things that occur that UC and nurses have different stresses since its obviously a different job. I just wanted to know some of the good things about your current places of employment since I don't get to here about them all too much. All of the posts have been informative so far,please keep it up. Thanks!

The most "posotive" place I've worked was the OR. The small staff was really tight, and the surgeon thought of us as "pets", and treated us extremely well, if a bit condescending...but it hard to find a surgeon with a heart at all.
