I would like to ask for anyone to give me some information regarding the hiring of new grads
in these states: Oklahoma, Colorado, North Dakota, Texas..
and also any other state.
I just got licensed in CA, and in as much as I would like to stay here, I am not going to fight tooth and nail for one job opening with 500 applicants.
Which state accepts new grads with a little more education and experience? I'm willing to relocate even if I hate snow :/
More Info: ADN, RN, ACLS, BLS, BA Psychology, currently in a Master's program
The education must count for something right? im thinking maybe in a psych or behavioral health role? or even Peds.
Please help me... I'm sad to say I am desperate but i really am. I have my parents to support and bills to pay.. and some phone calls need to be avoided. I am ready to up and leave and start working, not only for income but I don't want to be out of practice... I love working the floor and I am blessed with a good support system....
thank you in advance for your input. This board is amazing.

I got an interview with a hospital in Colorado Springs fairly quickly so I would check out the hospitals in that area and apply, even when it says experience preferred. Also Texas definitely has availability. Just be sure that you adequately explain that you are willing and happy to move. My advice is to apply, apply, apply. I wish you the best!

In Texas, things are still good for new nurses....at least in many places. Everyone I know in my graduating class found a job quickly and easily.

texas!!! i am not from there so i do not know exactly where the best areas are or where the facilities that specialize in peds or mental health are hiring new grads. however, like the others i know of nurses who moved away and landed jobs without any trouble even in specialty areas such as the icu and the er. for new grads, texas is the place where dreams come true.

Y'all make me so proud! . Yes, we continue to be new grad friendly here in TX. But you may need to go outside the major metro areas of Dallas, Austin, Houston, etc. No state income tax. Short or non-existent winter weather. Affordable housing. Decent wages. The friendliest people in the world.
Hurry on down, it's a big state with plenty of room for everyone & I don't want y'all to miss Rodeo season.

What areas outside of the major metro areas would be good. I'm actually coming down next month to check things out in Dallas, Houston, san Antonio and Austin. I have friends in SA and Houston and Temple (I REALLY want to work at Scott & White) so hopefully, I can network my way in. However, I'm considering other areas too. So, where are these other places and are they REALLY far from the metro area? Being that I live like 15 miles outside of NYC, I can't imagine living far from a major city!
