Pearson closes testing centers in US and Canada

Published

I got an email today from Pearson stating that they're cancelling testing appointments due to the coronavirus. Starting on March 17th until April 16th or later and that registration would be re-opened on April 16th. Now I'm beyond confused because the testing dates are all filled up for April so will I not be able to take my exam until May? I know they're doing this for safety purposes but I cant help feeling anxious and depressed. I was initially suppose to take this 2 weeks ago but my nerves got the best of me and I rescheduled my exam date. Now I don't even know when I'll be able to take this exam. Did anyone else get a similar email?

For the NCLEX?

That's the way I'm reading the website.

Yes.

The NCLEX is given by Pearson? That is a disaster.

What would be a disaster would be to congregate a large number of stressed out people during a pandemic.

I got a same email. I had my exam scheduled in two days literally two days from now and my job starts at the beginning of April which means I must have my license by then. I contacted my hiring manager as soon as I got email from pearson vue. I am freaking out. I’ve complete every pre-employment documents already (contracts, benefits, health assessment etc). What I supposed to do now. So anxious. Are they gonna withdraw me from hiring?

Most likely in a situation like this, they are going to work with you. Besides, some facilities may be cancelling orientation as it involves a large group of people being together.

Not cancelling, but altering orientation, here. It’s an “all hands on deck!” approach - and my nurse educator said that the orientee’s would be in small cohorts and more orientation on the floor would be happening.

With staff absenteeism suspected to rise, I can see why they’d modify orientation. I’m curious how it’ll go. I think, depending on the floor ... it would go really well. I’m just reminded of all the hospital rah rah rah I had to attend as a new employee.

With Pearson, how does it affect $$? Do you get a refund? A new timeframe?

My exam was initially for 8 am tomorrow morning. They actually didn't cancel my appointment like the email insinuated. I guess they wanted everyone to reschedule or something I'm not entirely sure. I didn't want to reschedule without speaking with someone first so I called them 7am when they opened. I must have called every number on that website. The NCLEX Pearson Number isn't even going through. SO Then I called NCSBN number and they picked up pretty quick but sadly told me they don't know anything about scheduling and that its Pearson that deals with that. SO then I called Pearson. I decided to also use the live chat which the website said had quicker response. About an hour and a half later someone finally responded to me. They told me that they don't deal with NCLEX exam scheduling and that the NCLEX Pearson number I initially called deals with scheduling. The only problem is that I cant get anyone to pick up. Now I'm on their chat service hoping someone responds. Hope your guys understood all that back and forth.. I'm having a hard time keeping track myself.

So yeah, I'm slowly dying on the inside.

I am on the same boat. I was supposed to test today. I never received such a cancelation email. I should up to the testing center and found out it was closed. I decided to check my email and at 3AM I was sent an email stating the following, "You recently received a standard cancellation email regarding your upcoming exam appointment. At this time, based on government guidance, the appropriate action is to close test delivery at Pearson VUE-owned test centers across the United States and Canada for at least 30 days until April 16, to do our part to slow the pandemic and keep our employees and candidates safe." I never received a cancellation email. Now, on the website, it shows as I did indeed took the exam or was a no-show. I am worried because my ATT code expires March 29 and therefore it doesn't let me schedule the exam for a later date. I also tried contacting the number on the Pearson website and I get a busy signal.

I’m sure they’re dealing with many calls and with minimal staff, if any. Take a deep breath- many things need to be worked out. My state closed all drivers license centers for two weeks but is extending expiration dates to compensate. They may just need to figure out how to work it out with the systems they use.
