Palm Pilot

I will begin nursing program here in MO in Jan 09. I was wondering who uses palm pilots and how do you like yours? Where can i get one and does anyone offer discounts for them? Thank you.

There's lots of threads on this subject..I've replied to all of them :chuckle I love my Palm TX. I use the Nursing Constellation software from Skyscape, and it's so useful in clinical. My whole life is in my Palm..I wouldn't know where to be half the time if I didn't have it with me. As far as discounts, I have no idea. You might try ordering one through your campus bookstore, they might have some kind of school discount.

I have a Palm Centro Smartphone, I had a Palm also before that. I love it. I have yet to use any extra software for school but I am sure it would come in handy. I got my original Palm off of Ebay for very cheap.

I got the Palm TX on Black Friday from the Palm store... they had a special that was $100 off a $300 purchase. The TX was $299 so I bought a car charger which took me over and got the discount plus free shipping. I'd check their site to see of they have any after Christmas sales. I purchased Constellation from Skyscape as well based on what I've read on threads here but haven't used it yet... I start clinicals in January.

I actually just got the HP iPAQ handheld PDA with an extra 2 GB card, a hardcover case, and the PEPID RN Student Clinical Companion software (2 year subscription). I love the PDA and the software- very easy to use and will definitely come in handy in school/clinicals. With everything, it was around $700. I believe it will be well worth it, though, as it's like having nursing textbooks in the palm of your hand.

I have a Palm, loaded with the Pepid Software. I am not entirely happy with the software. There have been quite a few times that I have looked up drug or a condition and it was not there! Sheesh. So it's back to my trusty Davis.

I cannot speak for the Skyscape software, but I wish that the software could be tried before purchased.

We are given one in our first level - it's included in our tuition. It's a Palm Tungsten T5. I haven't gotten it yet but I've heard it's nice.

I got the iPod touch. Loaded it up with epocrates, med calc and eponyms and it was invaluable in clinicals. Just another option out there for you

get skyscate too!:smokin:

I have a tungsten E2 with epocrates. It's a real life saver, no dragging around a bulky medication guide. Fellow classmates have me look up meds for them sometimes too.

i like the fact that you can look at the pill ID for whenever some one says a little white pill "like this" for my heart!

I love my Palm TX. I've used it the past year for my clinicals. I purchased nursing central software. It included Taber dictionary, Davis Drug Guide, Davis Lab & Diagnostic Tests, Disease and Disorders manual. The price was $150.00 and well worth it. The are addtional websites that you can download free info.

What about blackberrys?
