Considering the number of girls who come to school with too much cleavage or booty showing, I'd say pajamas are probably a more modest choice, anyway!

I don't think adults are meant to understand a teenager's tastes.

My kiddos wear uniforms, but I often see the PARENTS coming to school in pajama bottoms. Not just once or twice, I would say at least once a week! Often this is for teacher conferences or meetings with the admin.

I must admit I am a PJ lover. My PJ wardrobe is rivaled only by my scrub wardrobe! I have been known to run through the drive-thru in PJ's, and occasionally I have gone to feed my horses in them (only very early in the AM when other people who board horses there are unlikely to be there!) Once when I was desparately ill I ran to the pharmacy for OTCs. But never, NEVER would I show my face at my child's school in them. Come on!

vashtee,

That was my first thought, too.

There are a couple of girls at my daughter's middle school whose dress is so inappropriate I don't know how the boys can be expected to get any work done in their presence. What makes it even more sad is that their parents drive them to school, so they know what the girls are wearing. It's not like they are sneaking out of the house sight unseen. Unfortunately, the dress code is not consistently applied by the principal. But there is one teacher who keeps her kids' old Catholic school uniforms in her classroom and makes the girls cover up during her class period.

We chose to send my younger daughter to another school in another district where the dress code (and conduct code, in general) is taken very seriously. The difference is night and day in terms of self-respect and respect for others.

:yeah:Kudos to that teacher! Someone really should report that principal and go up the chain of command until the rules are enforced equally!

Our board policy prevents them from wearing pajamas except on special dress up days. We have several parents who wear them all the time, even at the ballpark. I love my pjs but I would not ever wear them to my childrens school or school functions. When I have been so sick and took my kids to school, I always at least put on sweats. I have worn them to pick up food from the drive thru praying the whole time that I would not have a wreck so no one would see me.

Our problem with dress code is cleavage. But that is something that is not spelled out and if you say anything the student tells mom and then mom comes to school all mad. The mothers are barely dressed so at least you know why daughter thinks that it is okay.

we see a lot of pj's and slippers. believe me, PJ pants can be rolled down and T-shirts can be pulled up enough that they are still indecent.

That's part of the problem in our district, also. The principal is a fairy young man, and I think he's afraid to raise too big a stink over girls' clothing for fear of being accused of inappropriate "behavior." Also, some of the girls who come to school dressed this way are the daughters of influential families who would make his life miserable. Like I said, the parents already know how their daughters are dressing and obviously don't care.

In this situation, I think it would be best to have a female staff member in charge of dress code enforcement, but so far, only the one teacher has stepped up to address it, and that is probably so that she can actually accomplish something in her class.

It seems to me to be something of a generational thing.

I don't get it either. When I was young, no one outside the family ever saw you in your pajamas, unless you were at your girlfriend's house for a sleepover. And even if you just ran into town to the store for a loaf of bread, you put on clothes. Going out in pajamas just wasn't done.

To this day, I have to know someone for a while to let them see me in mine.........which is difficult when your kids think nothing of bringing home their friends on a Saturday morning! I've been embarrassed more times than I care to count by coming up the stairs still in my jammies and meeting the eyes of some strange teenager......now I'm a little less freaked-out by it, but I still wouldn't dream of going out in PUBLIC in them, no matter how accepted it might be to some. To me, that's just the ultimate in laziness!

I leave at 6:55 to take my youngest to school in the morning. I almost never dress in anything other than sweats and tennis shoes to drive her. But when I really want to torture her, I threaten to wear my pjs and fuzzy slippers.

I see this all the time at my school and I think its disgusting. I'm sorry but appearance means so much to me and I can't see how parents can go to their child's school dressed in PJ's.

On another note: We have one teacher at my school that every day looks like a complete slob. She wears baggy dingy t-shirts q day and I can't stand it !

IDK maybe its just me, but people need to start looking up on their appearance.

I'll take PJ's over cleavage and peak a boo thongs any day.
