I am currently in nursing school in Florida. I planned to move to NYC as soon as I graduated, is that a possibility or do I have to work in Florida first?
When I get my license, do I have to practice as a nurse in the state of Florida before I move? Is there any required experience I need to obtain before I try to move to a different state?
I am having a hard time finding information on this.

You can NCLEX in Florida for New York (or any other state for that matter). You never need be licensed in Florida if you never plan to work there. There is no requirement to work in any state. I'm stunned that your school has not provided you this information.

Our school started preparing us at the end of our next to last semester. We were ready with all documentation at the beginning of the final semester. They even brought a company to do fingerprints. We were given a list of places if we couldn't make the time this company was there.
Disturbed that your school has not given you this information or resources.

Everyone wants to move to NYC, so it might be more difficult to break into that market as a new graduate.

I liked your play on words (Oranges to Apples). Florida= Oranges and NYC= Big Apple

Your classmates and you should be asking questions in this realm if instructors are not mentioning any of this. Have they said anything at all about their role in the licensing process once school is done?

There is no requirement for you to work in or even be licensed in Florida. You can take NCLEX for licensure by exam in NY. I'd be sure I had a job lined up in NY before I packed up and moved, though. The market in the northeast is pretty saturated with nurses.
