Hello,
Does anyone know of any online RN private programs? I work full time as a CNA and my job will not budge on accommodating me for school. I'm trying to find ways to attend school. I'm older, (44) and I do not want to wait to do all of the prerequisites. Any suggestions?

I havent heard of any RN programs full online apart from being temporarily that way from COVID, but if you are looking for doing prerequisites online you could check a local community College. I'm starting my prereqs in a few months and all the ones I need for my ADN are online, and all for my BSN except for Chemistry are as well. I plan to be online as much as I can before I have no choice and start my nursing program.

Chamberlain has an online RN with clinicals 3 days a week during weeks 7 & 8 of each set of classes, but you have to live in certain states.
‘’I think wgu might have something like that as well, again, only with clinicals in certain states.

Different job? Because honestly if they are unwilling to budge so you can go to school- they clearly are not a quality employer.
Even if you find an online program that doesn’t require prerequisites upfront, you will end up doing them as part of the process. It would be impossible to learn nursing without the cursory understanding of the underlying mechanisms provided by A&P, Microbio, Chemistry, etc. every program will either require them upfront or as part of the structured program. There is no getting around it.
then again, if your target school will take straighterline, portage, une, John Hopkins, etc. self paced online courses then you have options for getting the prerequisites done much faster.

I'm 61, been an LVN for 13 years. My scope of practice always limited because I never became a RN. During this 13 year period I finished raising a family and saw 2 daughters through nursing schools as well. I still want to be an RN and be more useful to people needing a higher level of care that I have always wanted to provide. AM I TO OLD???? HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME???? I don't want to throw in the towel. Aging sucks!

It's never too late! "You can do it" in my Waterboy Fan voice, from the Waterboy movie. There is a bridge program that is new from the University of Arkansas Fayetteville Online LPN to BSN. Here is the: https://online.uark.edu/programs/licensed-practical-nurse-bachelor-science-nursing.php
Here is a Youtube video with all the details:

I am 61 as well, going to start RN to BSN with Western Governors University, affordable and accredited. I need to keep my mind sharp and don't see 61 as too old!

The prerequisites are required because you need the knowledge as a nurse. Typically, you will need to take biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, two semesters of anatomy & physiology, and one psychology class. I highly recommend taking them at a community college to decrease the cost. If you really want to do it, take the time to do it right. Good luck!

If you haven't found anything yet look at Hutchinson Community College. They have an LPN/LVN to ADN online program that's 1 yr. You do have to have your prerequisites prior to applying to their program. The course work is online and it does require travel to Kansas for clinicals, but it's not your typical weekly clinicals. You do them "blocks" at a time. I just graduated from Hutch in 2020 and can't say enough good about the program and staff. Great school.

@cvh1576 44 is not old! I had some classmates that they were in their 60’s . You are very young compare to some people.
I heard these are some online fast paste RN programs Nightingale College in Utah, Azure College in FL and ICHS in Florida . I do not have much info. I am still doing a research. Good luck with your journey
