I, REALLY, need to know... WHAT exploded??? I mean, I have to know.

So did the whole patient explode? That would have been messy for sure LOL.

I still don't know WHAT exploded! Was it a giant pulsating cyst? I've seen some crazy videos on Facebook.

Sorry, NurseCard, I do believe OP is a One Thread Wonder who posted Feb. 25 and has not since returned.

As the Man in Black from The Princess Bride said, "Get use to disappointment".

That's reassuring @JenMH88RN, even though gastric contents seem gross, the pH is usually less than 3, enough to inhibit the growth of bacteria ?.

Oh ugh, that's bad enough! Ugh ugh ugh I hate when I'm trying to flush a tube and all of that Jevity that's been in the person's stomach, all comes flying back out at me! Gross!

I agree with Juan though, I don't think you have much to worry about on the MRSA tip.

Thank you for returning to answer the burning question we all had..what the heck exploded?? Gross as it is, been there done that and more than a few times. As Juan said the pH of stomach contents is low enough to inhibit bacterial growth so you should be safe from infection.
