OASIS CERTIFICATION

Sorry, it posted my link before I was done. You don't have to take the course, you can do the computer exam anytime and the paper-and-pencil exam whenever it's offered, but I can almost guarantee that you won't pass. It doesn't matter how long you've been doing OASIS, there are so many little nit-picky things that if you don't take the course, you're really not likely to pass (unless you get the slides and workshop info from someone who has taken it). Definitely see if you can get your employer to sponsor you, it's well worth it to them to have people who know the data set inside and out.

thanks for the info,,,i was wondering if there is a totally online course/exam , do you know?

I took the COS-C exam. It was totally open book and I passed on the first attempt with no formal class or workshop. I did however, work with the oasis prior to my testing. Go For It........

Can you tell what book did you use for open book test? thanks.

The book is what you get when you do the workshop and goes into minute detail about the intricacies of the questions. Even though it's open book, you will not have time to look up every question to be sure of your answer. I've known people who have taken the workshop and still failed the test--twice!

if you go to the website Oasis answers there is a book :instant oasis c answers ,for the current year. this is the book that was given to us in the course and we took the test straight from the book. Some on the questions were word for word. I passed the first time but took the course before the test but, 4 out of 8 nurses that were with me failed. I think it depend on experience as well.

I, too, took the exam after taking a 2 day course and passed. I agree the course before the test is best.

Where can I find OASIS-C online classes or workshops. Travel is hard for me and expensive right now. I would like to be able to get a certification in this.

What benefit is there to getting this certification? Does it open up job possibilities? If so, for what kind of positions?

Where I live more and more agencies are seeking to hire nurses w/this certification because more changes are coming in 2015 and all reimbursement is tied to this..they are also interested in nurses that are coding certified..the problem where I live is no one offers workshops, etc on OASIS and the link above holds conferences out of my state.
