NURSING SHOE HELP

hi everyone! in need of some desperate help and opinions finding good nursing shoes. I'm on my fourth week of nursing school and my current shoes aren't even getting me through my 3 hours labs. I bought Danskos because of the reviews and my right foot has never been in so much pain from minimal standing. Ive had multiple surgeries over my 1st MTP and talus and the danskos push right into those areas on me. does anybody have thoughts on Birkis by Birkenstock? wondering if they're worth the money or just go with crocs? any other suggestions?

What kind of shoe do you wear when exercising?

Or what kind/style would you wear doing errands, or when on a vacation that involved a lot of walking/sight-seeing?

I think you need to start there, as opposed to limiting yourself to what someone might specifically call a "nursing" shoe.

I actually love Birkenstock sandals which is why I thought it may be a good fit! I would normally just wear sneakers but my program requires that we wear nonslip black or white leather or any noncanvas/waterproof shoe with a back. The requirements make it a little harder to shop for comfort ?

This is a question for your surgeon. Plus, shoes are different for everyone.

I did find that changing my shoes and socks, mid -shift and applying pain relief cream got me through.

I have tried Danskos and can't stand them. Sneakers seem to work best, but if you need a clog-type shoe for class and clinical, I had a pair of NurseMates that were pretty good.

Keen Presidios come in black leather. They have a wide toe box and I've worn them on icy docks and the deck of my sailboat with very little slip. They're insanely comfortable as well.

Despite my recommendation -- or anyone else -- you're going to have to wear what is most comfortable for you. Your feet are different from mine or anyone else's. Go to a brick and mortar store, get your feet measured and try on the shoes in question. The Walking Company has lots of comfortable shoes and some knowledgeable sales staff.
