Nursing Books

So my local borders bookstore is going out of business and im wondering if I should take this opportunity to buy some nursing books on sale. I dont start nursing school until September but im thinking that I may not have another chance to get these books at such a great discount. Do you think its worth it to go ahead and buy a few or should I wait to see whats required?

Im sure you could ask the school what they use now and see if they match up.

I checked the one here and everything was at least two editions older than what I would need:(

I would get a drug guide, nursing diagnoses, and nclex review book because they are useful at any school. I wouldn't gamble with books for courses, but that's just me. I like to get the correct book.

[color=dimgray]you would be surprised how cheap some nursing books are on amazon.co.uk, still seminal works such as lazarus are hard to find and pricey too. abebooks.co.uk are also worth a look. you may not need to rush out there, if you can get a royal marsden cheap, that would be wise. hopefully your uni library should be packed with nursing books. tip. try and keep a module ahead, so you can find the books you need. miss the surge when the module brought up for the first time in class. regards graduagent

Get the little pocket books. Super handy!

I had this same thought! I hit up the closing Borders a few weeks ago, and even though my ABSN program doesn't start for 2 more months, I grabbed a Saunders NCLEX review book, and one of those "Made Incredibly Easy" books...pathophysiology, I think. I figured I can read it on my own now for something to keep me sharp until my program starts...it's witten at an accessible level for a pre-nursing student to use for independent study. ;) I wasn't planning to look for any textbooks and even if I did I wouldn't have bought yet because our booklist isn't available yet and I know they're making some changes to the required texts for my year.

Dang...I just saw a Borders going out of business when I was visiting another city for spring break! I didn't realize it was nationwide. There's not a Borders where I live, but I should have stocked up! LOL Good idea!

Get an NCLEX review book (Saunders is good), a drug book, Taber's medical dictionary, and a care plan book.
