Has anyone experience negotiating a contract verbally one day and then when it's time to sign the contract another day was presented with different terms (rate and benefits)?

No experience with that, but I have to say that this would seriously make me reconsider a position with them. Not a good way to start a professional relationship. They would have to convince me that this was a serious whoopsie on someone's part rather than them trying to pull a fast one.

Agree with above poster. I would call them on it and see what the reaction is....

In law enforcement, that's called a clue. I'd thank them for their time, while thanking them for wasting mine (in my mind).
