Negative Threads

Is it just me or does this board seem really negative? I belong to other forums that deal with working out, cars, and mountain biking and there are hardly ever any "rant" threads, maybe 5% at most. Here, it's like the opposite. Do people come here in the general discussion just to rant?

I can't wait to have nurse stuff to vent about. :)

Always like rant threads, lets you see things could always be worse and you are not alone in the crap.

mountain biking...I hate it. I can't see why anyone would do it! ICK! :D

Isn't this a negative thread???

it is!

This is a great forum for all of us to come together and share our ups and downs we support each other very much in allnurses yes u may see some begative threads but many of us here go about turning that negative into a positive this is a HUGE support forum for many of us so I don't se it as a negative at all u may have some individuals that are a bit arrogant but that's the whole purpose to support each other on how to deal with ppl like that or anyone also for those wo have any interest in any specialty of nursing its a great information and networking site I absolutely love it! But negative? Nah

In a nutshell, this is what it is all about. It shows that we are not alone, that there are people dealing successfully with situations even worse than your own and reading these rants can actually give me an answer to a similar situation. Nursing may be a calling for some, but it is not a hobby, it is a way to earn a living. If you log onto physician forums, accounting forums (if there are any) or any other, you will see their vents as well.

Now, the basket weaving ones, well, there may not be any or as many...:D

Of course that are! Is life hon, people have hard life sometime or all the time, he, he, he. Nurses CNAs, Drs, and many others, whatever they are HUMAN. Some of them could keep in balance their life others not, some of them have a balanced family life, others not, all of us we work with ALL types of other ones.... so is hard. Beeing anonimous is easy you come vent and go, tell to others, make a real or fake image about you and what was happend, in your story you are good, all others are bad... but you vent, vent your fellings did you remember.... people take it or you are on ignore list, lool. We are not all the same you could not love all, but at one point if you really want you could understand them why?

Are a lot of good positive people here, belive Zuzi, and are real normal and positive and in day to day life!

Hugs helps with you? lol Muah!

This is just about the only place I feel safe to rant. Not only do we have a shared frame of reference -- if I start snarling because some kept a heparin drip infusing on someone with an APTT >250, the folks here know what that means; my priest would have no idea -- but sometimes I need someone who's been on the job longer to tell me if something was really bad, or it wasn't so bad and I took it the wrong way.

I spent 20 years in computers, and had bad days on the job there. I promise you, there are plenty of "nerd" sites where people blow off steam to other nerds....the difference is, we would record the help desk calls, and play them on the sites to prove our users were dumber than your users...I mean, we had contests ... most cussin' in fewest seconds, etc. I would love to be able to record some of my patients / patient families....folks outside nursing don't believe just how we get treated...

You want a forum that every thread only talks about the positive things with no venting/frustration/anger/worry? That's not life!

Even the Disney park employees had a website where they ranted like crazy, but I heard the company made them take the whole thing down. I guess customer service anywhere has it's stressful moments.

There are some other sites out there for venting. I joined one once called 'Customers Suck', where mostly retail people vent about nasty customers or difficult bosses. It was enlightening. There's another one 'I really hate my job!!!'.

Yeah, I saw the "I Hate My Job" one...funny, funny, funny! Now, the Disney Powers that Be that took down their venting boards, now THAT is something to balk about! I would be angry as sin!! You can't possibly think that Snow White, the Little Mermaid and Mickey Mouse have sweet stories of cherub like angels coming to them for hugs. Some of the parents can be worse than the kids!

By the time I get home at night, I'm to tired to log on to rant. But on my days off I log on to see other posts that are going through the same exact things I did at work. This particular forum is a reliable source for me to vent and empathize with others. I felt all alone in my entrance to the profession until I joined allnurses!
