i applied for nclex in california board of nursing and my schedule is on january 2010... i just graduated this april 2009 and have not read any nursing related books and i'm freaking out cause i have no idea of what to read, how to review... i cannot afford to go to review centers, i'm working 8 hours everyday to support myself and my brother...

what are good review materials? my sis told me saunder's is good. should i read comprehensive books or just dive in to reviewers or test books? 2 months of review is okay right?!

pls pls give me some advice. thank you

I never took a review class. I simply did anywhere from 50-100 questions a day. I def did AT LEAST 50 a day for a month and went and took the test and passed after only 75 question which I did in like a little over an hour. Saunders is good and so is lippencotts. Just know that you can't know everything so don't think you can. I also bought the Qbank from Kaplan which is an online question bank that had like 1300 questions i think for like 300 dollars but there was more with it. You had 3 comprehensive exams n different modes you could take the tests in. Either way it worked for me. Most of the people I graduated with didnt take a review course and everyone passed. Good luck to you

I did Saunders, NCLEX 3500 and I reviewed some content from earlier semesters. I did questions daily (varied with my mood) and would write down anything I got wrong or realized I had forgotten about (even if I guessed correctly) so I could review it. I reviewed all those things off my handwritten notes periodically to reinforce it.

I did not do a review class, either. I passed with 75 questions.

You can do it!

I also suggest the Saunders RN book. That is what we are all going to get- one of the girls in my class already purchased it and said that it is great. You may also want to review some alternate format questions because they are supposed to change the testing format next year. Good luck!

Goodluck.......:)

I did not take a review course. Just study on my own. I did like around 100-150 questions a day from Saunders Q & A. I also did questions from the kaplan review book. I will pm you the advice I wrote to my friend.

Edit: I just realize I need 15+ post to pm other members. So if you could msg me your email address, I will email it to you

go to your public library. they will have a nursing section. there you should find nursing nclex review books that you can check out (for free) for 3-4 weeks. you can save yourself some money. you should find the common publishers like saunders, kaplan (purple book), mosby, lippincott, davis, examcram and probably many more. if the books are older than 3 years, i wouldn't use them though. if the book you borrow has a cd, copy/download the cd to your computer and you will be able to practice questions long after you have returned the books. if you local library does not have recent books, have the librarian check the other libraries in your area to see if they can hold them for you to check-out.

also go to the www.nursereview.org. if you click on the nclex review link (top of page) you can practice using question trainers 1-7 for free! the nclex review link is located at http://www.nursereview.org/search/label/all%20about%20the%20nclex%20%20examinations this will give you about 1,050 questions to study with. just copy/paste the questions/answers to a ms-word document so you don't have to constantly come back to the website. you will also find a lot of other study material (pharm, study tips, strategies, question of the day, etc.) that will be helpful as you study. note: the site is very busy and may slow your pc down because of the pm/chat room that is open.

i will send you a pm message with some other sites to help you study. it's all free to use. between the library and internet websites, you should be able to practice many nclex style questions between now and when you test.

good luck with your studying.

Exam Cram...I used Hurst review and used a little bit of Exam Cram, but the information from Exam Cram is almost like Hurst review. Just do questions and focus on the rationales. Know your content and you will do great :)
