Good morning everyone,

I'm a new grad. and will be taking the state board soon. I saw a lot of success stories for first time passes. That's great. Any advice, suggestions on preparing for this big test?

Much to success to all.

My advice is to do practice NCLEX questions on the computer. This was very helpful to myself and friends...helps you to get into the "mode" of doing computerized testing.

Good luck!

I used the Kaplan NCLEX review book. It was about $35 at Barnes and Noble. It had a lot of practice questions, practice tests on CD, rationales, and test-taking tips.

Good Luck!!

I used the Saunders compressive book and CD that came with it and the mosby CAT ($40) best 40 i every spent. It is set up just like boards. I had 75 questions and passed.

Yeah umm I took my NCLEX today and I don't feel I did so hot I paid $ 300 for a certified NCLEX stude guide crash course at school and I don't think that helped

I am in TX and my computer shut off at 90 questions the minimum is 85, So I let you know in 48 hours how I did that test was:uhoh3:

check out the NCLEX forum, plenty of good info there for you

Thanks again

Thanks for your help, but silly me....I didn't see the Nclex forum. Can you help?'

if you click on the student tab near the top of the page and scroll down you will find the NCLEX forum. Suzanne has formalized a plan that you can follow but need to complete the first part as instructed and then send her a PM. Saunders is a good book to use and I also found Kaplan helped

I really liked Saunders, great help on how to pick the correct answer and rationals why answers are right/wrong. Brush up on your test taking skill would be number one priority for me. Learn how to take a test and how to spot wrong answers ect and remember READ CAREFULLY. Good Luck!

Another good book for prioritization and delegation questions is Prioritization. Delegation, & Assignment put out by Mosby. I did some questions out of the Kaplan book, but I thought using the study mode on the CD in the back of Saunder's Q&A book was most helpful. I passed with 75 questions. Good luck!

SILVERDRAGON102,

Found the information. Thanks a bunch. I am new at navigating thru this system. Thanks again;)

i took the boards more than 2 years ago, thank goodness i passed the fist time. i can't agree more with other posters, saunders is the best book out there imo. test questions looked so much like the boards it wasn't funny! i also took a class with june cochran which my hospital paid for, i surmise she travels all over the place helping nursing grads...excellent strategies and funny captivating true tales of nursing as a bonus!

ps. i am not one to ask others to pray for me. however, i did not hesitate to ask and you know what, it not only helped me but i noticed on test day the prayer wave helped everyone who took the test besides myself. it took humbling myself but it was definitely worth the asking!
