Moving to Colorado

I live in the mountains but some of the people that have worked for me over the past few years said they enjoyed working at the banner health facility in Greeley.

Greeley is a pretty small city, big town outside of Denver. Denver would be maybe 45-60 minutes but you would have everything you would need right in the Greeley/fort Collins area.

I live in southern Fort Collins, near Loveland. I love northern Colorado. It's a great area to live. The only hospitals I know about are Poudre Valley in Ft Collins and McKee in Loveland. I have friends that work at both hospitals and love them.

There's also Med Center of the Rockies in Loveland. Brighton also has a hospital (Platte Valley). Also, you could look at Longmont United (both Brighton and Longmont are about 30 miles from Evans).

Northern CO is a great place to live and work but it is also a very competitive job market for nurses.

I heard great things about Purdre valley

I am looking to relocate to Denver Colorado area to be near kids/grandkids. Can anyone tell me what the average/expected pay would be for nurses with 6+ years of experience mostly in Hospice and geriatric care? Has anybody had experience in relocating to Colorado? Is it hard to get your license transferred, any comments about cost of living. Are nursing jobs easily available? Thanks!

@dkspudette I got my license for Colorado pretty easily. Took a few weeks and was a simple process. My husband and I are still in the job hunting stage but it looks promising.

I just got back from Denver. I went there to see about relocating from Illinois. My opinion is solely based on spending one day with a real estate agent and talking with a nurse I went to school with 3 years ago. I felt that the cost of housing was out of my price range and that although the area was beautiful I would be house-poor. I looked at buying in the Denver area and small condos and houses were going for $200,000. From what I understand nurses are paid around $26 per hour then add on differentials. I'm too old to go back to having roommates, so I just couldn't see making the move. I'm going to look at other areas of the country where my dollar will go farther. Just my take on the situation.

Yep, housing prices are quickly going up again.

Bang for your buck, try the Midwest or San Antonio Texas..... Both areas pay well and housing is still pretty inexpensive

You may also want to try looking outside of Denver. Aurora isnt that far away and home prices are much cheaper there (We just sold a townhome for $152k, which was on the high end of the price range for our area). Westminster, Thornton, Arvada and areas of North Denver are also going to be cheaper than Denver proper. There are actually more hospitals outside of the Metro area anyway. Just a thought :)
