Talk to the registration board of the state you want to work in. There are various bridging programs and the board will have a list of the acceptable ones!! Luck!!

OVERSEAS QUALIFIED NURSES AND MIDWIVES ASSESSMENT PROGRAM
The College of Nursing conducts programs to assess the competence of overseas qualified nurses and midwives who have been referred for assessment by the Nurse and Midwives Board of New South Wales.
During the program the overseas qualified nurse and midwife is oriented to the Australian Health Care System and the role of the registered nurse, enrolled nurse and midwife (as applicable).
The participant enters the program with an assumed level of knowledge and skill.
As such, participants are not ‘taught’ nursing/midwifery; they are oriented to the standards of practice in Australia.
Applicants are recommended to review their nursing/midwifery knowledge prior to commencing the program. Resources that may be used to assist you include nursing/midwifery journals and any recent text books, for example: medical/surgical, midwifery, anatomy and physiology and nursing fundamentals.

In Western Australia, most foreign nurses are expected to complete one semester of course work before being registered. This course will cost you about $7,000 and covers four subjects. In which country did you qualify, so that I may be able to find specific information for you or you can privately email me if you like. I am a nurse clinician in WA

Moving to the International forum as per the red banner requesting licensure/immigration questions to be posted there leaving the sub forum clear for local nursing issues.
Thanks for your understanding on this

Hi Pedusc. I would like to ask, do you know if they require overseas educated nurses to have years of experience before they allow them to undertake the bridging program? Thank you.
May I ask if they require overseas educated nurses to have experience before taking the bridging program? I am applying for registration in NMBWA. :)

I really cannot answer your question, but just wanna share my experience regarding my initial registration application with NMBWA.
I applied with the NMBWA with 6 mos hospital volunteer and 1 year clinic nurse experience. The Board confirmed receipt of my application July 16th thru email. I received my assessment letter dated July 23rd, informing me to take the Registration Bridging Course, last Aug. 1!!! That was fast!!! They sent an assessment letter a week after they received my application!!!
Good luck on your application!!!:wink2:
