Midnight babysitter

Does anyone pay a babysitter to spend the night with your kids while you work 7p-7a? If so, how much do they charge you?

TIA

I don't work those hours because I have children...but here is a suggestion. Do you have other nurses or CNA's or what not that also have children during your shift? Maybe you can co-op and pay a babysitter jointly for watching both sets of kids?

Ask folks on your shift...I am sure they have local answers too :) (don't stop with just nurses either...ask maintance, housekeeping..the works...someone should have a solution).

Good luck...hope you get a more mommy friendly shift...Mommy is awesome and deserves a schedule that works :)

This is something I have actually thought about doing . I just didnt know what kind of demand there was for it. I Good luck to you....

It is kind of funny...I then thought about doing this then on my time off! Babysitting children of other staff working nocs...then I stopped.

Heck no am I going to babysit children..even sleeping ones on my time off...I do that at work with geris! LOL!!!!!!!!!! No sense doing it 24/7!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!

I live near a local college. I called them and they put up an advertisement on their employment board. It was about 7 years ago, but I paid a college student $20/night to sleep at my house from 10:30pm to 7:30am. They brought their laundry, and slept in my bed. Occasionally they had to get the boys up and take them to another babysitter, but usu. I was home to get them up and off to school. Good luck in your pursuit! :)

All I can say is THANK GOD FOR FAMILY!!

Good question though. I'd wonder what the going rate is for over nights. My sister used to babysit 1 child over night, but it's been years ago. I'm sure the rate has changed since then.

I second that! Right now my Mom watches him during the week. She spends the night when I work. On the weekends, I have a couple friends that will watch him or he gets to spend the night with his cousins. They all watch him for free. I have one girl that is 18 and would be willing to do overnights if I need it & I just wanted to know what is fair to pay her if all my sitters happen to be busy sometime. Also, I somtimes think they could use a break. You can never be too prepared when it comes to sitters :)

Right now since I am so cash strapped being a student, I think people are being so helpful in offering to help me, especially giving up weekend nights to help us. I would hope once I am done with school I could find someone to pay to spend the night more so on the weekends. Even thought people will help, you can't help but feel bad asking someone to give up a weekend night to babysit.

Thanks for the input!

When my son was toddler/pre-school, I worked Fri, Sat, Sun nights, left him w/sitter from Fri eve til Mon am. I laid around on the couch til I fed him lunch and naptime, then was able to take a nap, too. I did that more because he had assorted therapy appts to go to during the week (I had a day slot before I adopted him), but it was easier on both of us. It worked out ok.

When he started attending a preschool program, I had to switch back. I was fortunate to find someone to accomadate that weird schedule. I also knew single mothers who found someone to share an appt with, do day care for each other.

I have been wondering this myself; bumping this up a bit for hopefully more responses. I find that as a new grad I am limited in my job choices because I have to work days (small kids and a hubby in the military who is gone a lot).

I pay my babysitter $70 for 7P to 7A

$70 for 7p to 7a..... 5 nights or 6?

I think that is the same my sister got years ago. Guess the rate hasn't changed much to sleep with someone over, and feed them cereal. LOL
