Make up...?

Have your instrucors heard of human rights? You have a right to not wear makeup if you so feel!!!!!!!!! And tons of it if it turns your crank!!!!!!!

I said this way upthread already, but I just want to repeat myself: The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (the most liberal in the country) has ruled that employers have the right to require makeup on female employees. I'm not saying I agree with this, in fact I think it's stupid, but no, you kind of don't have the right not to wear makeup.

I know, right? That decision came out while I was working at a law firm, so I got to read it in the Journal in all its misguided glory.

I don't think anyone should be forced to wear make up unless they were extraordinarily ugly.. HAHAHAHAH Just kidding. No I don't think it is fair that people are being forced to wear make up. But I do find it really, really funny that someone actually has to audacity to make that kind of a demand HAHAHAAHAHAHAHA

AAAArgghh, required to wear make-up, do they require the male students also, no i am sure that they don't this is a silly, sexist double standard.

I was just wondering if you are allowed to wear make-up as a nurse because I wear quite heavy make-up ..so would i have to stop wearin it..or tone it down or nething?

Or scars, or dark circles, or age spots, or lines. Covering up zits with makeup can actually aggravate the problem.

I have Lupus, the "butterfly" markings on my face do resemble age spots. I have had co-workers comment on my age spots. I don't wear make-up since my skin is super sensitive to almost every brand I have tried. Although my co-workers apologize when they find out that my age spots aren't age spots at all.

I have tried Bare Essentials, Almay, all the supposed hypoallergenic make-ups and break out in a rash with each one.

My face is clean, my hair is clean (although covered with a cap) and my patients receive the very best care I can give them. I am an CVOR nurse and most of my time with my patients are when they are sedated.

Anyway, sorry for getting long winded, but I had to respond to the age spot comment. We can't help it, but life happens. We aren't all perfect.

i think most of us feel better when we know we look alright, suppose a confidence thing as much as anything else. also it's part of maintaining a professional approach and gaining the trust and respect of our patients. we shouldn't be forced to wear make up either, as long as you're well groomed and look respectable and clean. i'm off to uni next year to study nursing, at the moment i'm doing my a levels and working at a local care home. from working 13+ hour shifts i'm very aware of how bedraggled we can end up looking and girls i have the solution! 24hr foundation, haven't tried the one that claims to last 25 yet, it's probably like paint! but it works! wear this 24hr stuff, powder and good waterproof mascara and after a 13 hour shift, 2 hours travel time and normally grabbing some food on the way home i look alright still, might be absolutely shattered but... no one would guess. in the end though we are there for our patients and of course they are our priority. happy nursing, can't wait to join the profession properly!! so pleased i stumbled across this website

I've never worn foundation before. I only wear eye makeup (at least 3 colors) and lipgloss.
