Is there a distance learning program for LPNs? To become an LPN that is.

The only one I know of that you do not have to be in the medical field is www.deaconess.edu . They have LPN and also RN programs online, the only thing is that clinicals are there in St. Louis. But you go once a year or semester, for a weekend to do the clinicals. Might want to look into it, I've heard people do go there that are not even in the state. So if you can afford to travel or take the greyhound and hotel once a semester/year. Then you should look into that, they also provide financial aid at that school.

Is this something that you know first hand? I went to Deaconess site and it looked as if they only offered artriculation for LPN to ASN or ASN to BSN etc. I would love to find an online option to become an LPN. By the way I have always wanted to go to Deaconess. I grew up in Jefferson County, MO. Now live in Littleton, Colorado. Really get home sick for the lush green hills of Southern Missouri.

I am a really Non traditional student being 58 years old and just completed my CNA schooling. Have not taken the state certification test yet. Have to wait till they do all of the criminal record checks and then wait till they schedule you for the test. Would love to hear from you.

From the Deaconess website: Associate of Science in Nursing Admissions Requirements Admission to the Associate of Science in Nursing Program with Practical Nurse Component assumes that the individual is completing the entire program and taking the licensure examination for professional nursing (NCLEX-RN). If an individual elects at the time of admissions, he/she may take the licensing examination for practical nursing (NCLEX-PN) at the conclusion of courses consistent with practical nursing education.

This sounds like an LPN program to me. Not an LPN to ASN or RN program. I did read that you would have to do clinicals in St. Louis so one must live with in the area.

I have family in St. Charles, so could camp out there during clinicals. I don't know if Deaconess still has the great rep that it used too, but if it does, it would be fantastic to get my credentials through them. Thank you so much for th clarification. Did you go to Deaconess?

Clinicals are done in a facility near where you live. I live in another state and do mine at a hospital near my home. There are 5 times during the RN program when you must go to the campus; that is for validation.

so your doing the program through Deaconess??? And you get to do your clinicals in a hospital near you? I live in Hawaii and would LOVE to do this if this is true!

Allamerican: Did you ever find out anymore information on this program? I am curious because I live in St. Louis and am trying to check out all my options! I thought Deaconess was bought out in the last year or so, but really don't know what's the current status. Thanks!

I am also another that is looking for an online program and I have been to deaconess college and it says i need an Lpn cert. Can anyone give me any information? thanks:confused:

I did not think there was any LPN program online.

I think it would be better to go to a school and take the LPN program rather than doing it online. If I already have an LPN certificate, than I would want the RN online.
