LPN to BSN

Interesting idea.

I'm relatively sure the accellerated program here is for bachelored degreed people without a nursing experience. But I can't speak for all programs.

Good luck! There are LPN to BSN programs out there though that aren't accellerated.

I know that in the Memphis Area, the only accelerated BSN programs are for RNs and second degree students who hold a bachelor's already. In my particular ADN program, LPNs must complete the whole four semesters just like us beginners. But I have heard other students say that some colleges will allow you to skip the first semester in some of the ADN programs...but that is accelerated as it gets around here. I would be weary of taking an LPN to BSN program online, how would you put in clinical time? if most colleges don't offer that type of program then is it even allowed by the State BON?

You know this got me thinking. Why is something like this not offered to LVN's. I know there are LVN to BSN programs and the program I applied to was only 4 semesters but if a student had all the pre-classes why not have a accelerated BSN program of some sort. Im not sure what makes the student with a previous Bachelor degree more qualified to take a course like this over/rather than a LVN that has nursing experience already. There is one online LVNto BSN program I know off but It takes longer than a year to complete more like two or three years. Interesting ,I need to think about this more...

Is it possible to do one of the accelerated BSN programs, like the ones set up for people with another bachelors degree, without a bachelors degree? I have all the pre-reqs for the ADN program and 60 credits so does anyone think that I might be able to weedle my way into a BSN program? I'm an older, very motivated student. My gpa after the LPN program is 3.7 and I test really well.

I'm putting this here because of the high traffic and I also want information with regard to traditional universities not the online ones. I'd love the flexibility of online classes but I'm paranoid about being left with an expensive but worthless piece of paper.

Don't listen to Soldierswife, she hasn't a clue what's happening in Memphis. Check out Union University, they have a 14 month cohort for 1st time degree seekers. This is not a RN to BSN but it is intense, infact there is an LPN in the class now.

Check out "The College Network".........it has all the flexibility of on-line, self-paced study only it's at home study for the most part. I know they do LPN to RN, possibly also to BSN??? They have a 1-800 number you could call & check them out!! They are nationwide too I'm pretty sure!

College network is not a college only a publishing company. They do not grant degrees they just provide the books for the classes required at various colleges thought the US .To the OP EXcelsior in New York is a self paced LVn to RN program , they are accrediated but you need to check with your state BON because some states have different requirments. Please do your research and be very cautious when dealing with the college network or any publishing company, they are very expensive and you can get the books you need from Ebay or your local bookstore for a fraction of the cost. There is mountains of info on here about Excelsior (EC) and publishing company . Check out the distance learning forum on this site.

BSN: 14-month Degree Completion

Union University School of Nursing is offering a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree for non-nurses who have acquired at least 24 transferable credit hours and are at least 24 years of age. The degree option is designed for adults who have attended college but have not completed a degree and seeks to become a registered nurse. This option takes into account the educational, career and life experiences of the individual as well as their critical thinking ability and maturity. The application deadline is February 1 of each year.

BSN: LPN-BSN

The primary degree program option at Union leads to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The LPN-BSN degree track typically takes four semesters (two years) to complete with credit given for previous LPN academic preparation and experience. Students take 64 hours in completion of the BSN degree. The LPN-BSN curriculum provides the professional knowledge and clinical experience to prepare you for success in a variety of healthcare environments. It will also provide the foundation for future specialized graduate studies. A complete list of courses required for the BSN degree at Union is available in the University Catalogue. The application deadline is March 1 of each year.

My reason for suggestion The "College Network" was to offer yet another avenue. The cost for LPN to RN is no more expensive than my local community college's tuitions (only the books are included).

My studies will be thru Indiana State & Excelsior.

It's not for everyone, but for me it's perfect!
