Looking for an apartment....PLEASE HELP!!

Published

I have to find an apartment in 2 weeks. I plan on going on apartment tours this Saturday, 04/26. BIG PROBLEM.....I am moving to Detroit and don't know of the apartments in the area.

Please let me know if you know of any great apartment complexes. I am looking for a 2 bedroom place.

If you are living in a great apartment complex in a nice area please share the info.

Thanks

are you trying to move closer to school or work? Detroit is big; what area do you need to be closer to?

Do you mean the Detoit area? Plymouth, Livonia are great places to start looking.

Thanks for your responses. I am looking for apartments in the Oakland and Macomb county area. I will be working at Harper but I don't want to live around that area. Anything 20-30 minutes away from there would be really good.

If you have any great apartment names please let me know.

Thanks

A friend of mine lived here and it wasn't bad. You can have a dog too(don't know if that is of importence or not). Depending on what you are looking to spend there are lots of houses for rent in the Macomb/Oakland county areas as well that are pretty close to rent for some apartments. If you are looking to save a little money, I'd lean towards southern Macomb county and if you don't mind spending a bit more look at Northern Macomb and Oakland, they are a little nicer and the price reflects it. Depending on your shift, if you'll be traveling during rush hour via I-94, 696 or I-75 I'd tack an extra 30 minutes to your commute just to be safe because of traffic(especially with construction that seems to be never ending!). Good luck! The DMC is nice(even though I work for Beaumont), my dad was treated there(at Karmanos) and we liked it.

What amenities are you looking for? Price range? Do you have a family? Do you want to live near night-life? Do you need to have a w/d in your apartment? Do you want a pool? There are so many apartments to choose from!! :)

Check out any of the Village Green apartments - http://www.villagegreen.com/communities/index.cfm/fuseaction/searchCommunities/contentID/3/navID/2/communityID/.htm - The management company has apartments all over the metro-Detroit area. The apartments in Troy off of John R are near I-75. The townhomes in Ferndale are right near I-696. The apartments in Royal Oak are also near I-75.

Thanks everyone for your response.

To answer logique question, I am looking for an apartment that looks good from the outside as well as inside. I don't want to go above $900 a month. I don't have a family and I want to leave near shopping, restaurants. A pool, no pool doesn't matter.I would like a washer and dryer in the unit.

Any ideas? Does anyone know anything about the Oaks at Hampton apartments?

I looked up the village green apartments, they were really great but many of the 2 bedrooms apartments were not available.

If those are in Rochester, then I have seen them (years ago) and they were pretty nice (we lived at Essex at Hampton, which were cheaper). Rochester is a really great town to live in.

I am partial to the Royal Oak area if you are young :)

Sterling Apartments in Sterling Heights are nice. They are off M-59 at Dequindre/Utica Road. W/D in unit, pool, looks nice in and out :)

There are a few other apartments off Utica Rd that are nice too if you like that area...

I sent you an email in response to the one you sent me. Let me know if you need more info/help.

Don't know where you plan on working, but I live in Troy, which is near Royal Oak or Ferndale. There are some nice apartments in that area. Royal oak and Ferndale are popular areas with the young crowd. I work in Downtown detroit and it takes me maybe 20minutes to get to work.

THIS PLACE LOOKS PRETTY NICE, IS IT NEAR HENRY FORD HOSPITAL? I WILL BE RELOCATING MYSELF FROM OUT OF STATE, AND NEED AN APT NOT TOO FAR FROM DETROIT.
