how long have you been an aide?

I was an aide fresh out of high school, many years ago, for about 2 years. I then went to school and became a surgical tech for about 7-8 years. Take about 8 years to be a stay-at-home mom and I will graduate in May of 2008 with a BSN!!

14 months to go!!!!

I've been an aide for 3 1/2 years? I will soon start school to be a LPN, then my next phase will be RN. I'm glad I started with CNA first. I know what's it's really like.

I have been a CNA for 4 years and I am (impatiently) waiting to get into the ADN program. I think it is excellent experience to begin as an Aide before entering into nursing. What better way to test the waters as to whether health care and all its glory are really for you!

I've been an aide for over two years and just began nursing school 3 weeks ago. I highly recommend doing it! You'll have a big advantage once you start nursing school- you learn so much, plus its a good way to know for sure if nursing is for you. Good luck whatever you decide:)

I have been an aide for 3 months now and I love it. I definetely recommend it to anyone thinking of getting into the medical field. It really gives you an opportunity to make sure that this is what you want to do with your life. Plus it also gives you an advantage for when you enter into nursing school (if that is what you are planning on doing). The more experience you can get the better IMO

Almost half my life. 4 years Acute Care, 12 years Home Health and Hospice, and 1 year Medical/Surgical.

Woo Hoo!! Just got my certification and I start my brand new job as a CNA on Thursday!! Very excited....and nervous at the same time!

Almost 11 months, which seems weirdly long and weirdly short all at once.

Almost four years. I'm taking the NCLEX-PN this summer. Being a CNA has definitely been an advantage in nursing school. I don't think it's necessary though. Some of my classmates with no experience at all are going to make some exceptional nurses.
