I'm going for my ADN and I had to take stats and nutrition is a co req. many ADN and BSN prereqs are essentially the same now, we all sit for the same test at the end

I was just trying to give the OP yet another example of how the classes she posted seemed typical for nursing prereqs as well as that BSN in my area requires additional prereqs beyond that of the ADN program.

Looks exactly right to me. A & P happens after Chem and Biology, need to learn to walk before you can run.

Do you understand that your prerequisites have prerequisites? Seriously, they do. Biology and Chemistry are typical prerequisites for Microbiology, Anatomy, and Physiology. At my school, AP classes in high school count as a C. And an A in English 1A is pretty much required to get accepted into the actual nursing program. Our BSN program requires Stats, which means having taken any prerequisite maths or testing out to get into Stats. Several of my classes required English 1A before I could register, including Humanities classes. Choosing what you like? Well, I've picked classes with a schedule I liked best, or an instructor is heard good things about, but pick classes? Nope, that's dictated by the degree requirements.

Think of all your prerequisite this way, you are not only learning the building blocks you really need to be successful in the higher level sciences, you also have a chance to become an incredible student with an awesome GPA before you get to the really hard stuff, like Physio, which in our school flunks up to 75% of students first time. That class was sheer hell, I swear I have PTSD from that semester-LOL, so glad that's behind me!

I absolutely do not mean to insult you with what I'm about to say, but do you REALLY know what today's nursing entails? If you don't have a close friend or family member who is currently an RN in an acute care setting, you might want to find out if there is a job shadowing program or see if you could talk to a senior BSN student , you might get a lot of clarity. You have a long academic road ahead of you, and should have a very clear understanding of the field before investing in the education. Best of luck to you.

You actually want to take A&P before Biology? That would be a mistake.

You won't take any nursing classes until you are admitted to the program. You have a standard schedule.

No I actually think the OP think she's entitled to just skip right ahead into nursing school. I mean she took AP classes and scored pretty well on her ACT after all. Lol

I just don't understand how a person can be in college and not understand how simply fulfilling credit requirements works at all. I could see how maybe making transfer credits work to fulfill requirements might get confusing, but not understanding that you need other classes besides simply nursing classes to get a bachelor's degree? And not understanding that a test score and high school classes won't automatically grant credits? Really - how is that possible?

OP, you really, really need to sit down with your advisor and ask how is stuff works. You should have your BSN program's requirements easily accessible and you should be using that list of classes to plan what you'll take, and in what order.

I worked as a RN on psychiatric units in acute care hospitals for 20 years. I am proud to have worked as a RN and especially so since I read your excellent answer.

College algebra will be needed! You will need to look at the school you want to go to then decides what classes you should take.
