Is this doable?

Can everyone look at my schedule plan to see if it's doable? I'm a 4.0 student and I never had a job before but this will be my first time working. My nursing school will be almost 30k and I need to save money for living expenses to lighten the load.

Summer 2016

I would like to say that I could handle it but I never had a job before so I wouldn't how I could handle work and school.

Only you will truly know if you can handle the workload - being a 4.0 student, perhaps you have spent a decent amount of time developing good study habits.

Have you taken A&P before (high school or previously at the collegiate level)? It can take up a lot of your time, outside of normal lecture/lab hours. 'Spring 2017' could potentially be difficult.

Will your job allow you to reduce your hours if needed to maintain academic success?

Does your institution not require Gen Bio/Gen Chem as a pre-req to A&P I?

So what I'm thinking about now is to take Microbiology this summer and Statistics next spring and Gen chem 1 next summer. I already took Organic Chem w/lab and chemistry is not required to take A&P. Plus, I'm already registered for my summer and fall classes. I never took A&P either.

Not sure if you want to do Chem, bio and ap2 in the same semester. When I did ap2 I also did micro , but that wasn't bad for me. I'm doing bio and stats now online and I'm doing chemistry in the summer in 5 weeks. My nursing classes start in the fall. I heard Chem is tough

At my university Gem chem 1 is mostly taken by freshmans and I heard the class is fun. But I'm taking it at a CC so I'm not sure how it will be. Also I took Organ Chem before gen chemistry and that was doable.

I suppose that would be better - at this point the only advice I can give is just know your limitations (whatever they may or may not be). I truly believe the order in which you've signed up seems backwards. There are many foundation course you're taking after the classes that you typically work up to.

In any case, Gen Chem differs from Organic Chemistry, as it is more formulae vs. qualitative. If you haven't taken a math in a while, it's good you are taking stats first to get used to ratios and equalities.

Best of luck to you.

I would personally take Gen Bio before AP anything, but that's just me. That schedule would completely overwhelm me, but I've seen others do it. It really depends on how good you are at time management.

Yeah, I notice that I'm a very direct and impatient person so I like to get things done in head of time. The reason for my backwardness.

I took Gen Bio in high School and I don't need the class as a prerequisite because it will just be seen as an elective to my intended nursing program.

If you schedule your time well anything is possible, but that being said when do you plan to work? Weekends? Nights? Taking 3 science courses with labs will have you in class a lot, and there's all the study time on top of that. I would write up a schedule and see how much time you will have for class, studying, sleeping and working. Maybe you'll get an idea of how doable it'll be

Fall and Spring seems like it could be pretty difficult -- I generally tried to take one hard science per quarter because the amount of terminology and concepts required to memorize. I worked 40 hours a week during my prereqs, but I worked the overnight shift to get studying in between rounds.
