3 interviews in a week time span - 2 down, 1 to go!

I passed my NCLEX in Feb 2014 and began applying to jobs right away. Unfortunately, I had no luck for 3-4 weeks. Every email I would receive would say that they had already filled the position with another candidate.

I finally decided to focus my search on rehab and sub-acute facilities. I had two interviews last Wednesday back to back. I thought both went well, but I haven't heard anything yet.

The first place, the Director of Nursing who was interviewing me made it VERY clear that she doesn't hire new grads, but she finished the interview by saying that I seem like a pleasant and polite person and that she would be willing to make an exception as long as my references were good.

The second place was a new facility and it was BEAUTIFUL place. They wanted nurses with a year of experience, but I was called in for an interview. Apparently, another nurse was also called in for an interview at the same time. A lady came up to me and told me that the interviewer would be right with me. She walked out of her office to get me and we walked back to her office. She complimented me on my skirt suit and we sat down. Surprisingly, it was not at all like an interview but more of a friendly conversation. I told her that I am really willing to work hard and make up for my lack of RN experience. She said "You can always learn skills. You can't learn compassion and from the short time talking to you, I can tell that you're a compassionate and nice person". She also said this would be a good first job for me and that they would get in touch with my references and then let me know in a week or so.

My third interview is in a couple of days. The only downside is this facility is 20 minutes further than the other two. I actually didn't even see an opening for this place, but I just decided to call and see if they had employment opportunities. The man I spoke with was very nice and said that they didn't have one at the location I called, but they may have one at another location. He got in contact with them, and them me and said that someone will call me for an interview. He told me to call him once the interview ended and let him know how it went and he also told me who would be training me and what unit I would be working on if the interview went well.

I am really crossing my fingers for one of these places. AHHH! The nerves are REALLY kicking in though. These are my first interviews so I don't really know if ALL candidates are given positive feedback like I was at the end of the interview.

Congratulations on getting out there!

It sounds like all three could want you!

Praying the best one for you is the one you get! ?

Thank you!

Does anyone know if most interviews end with the positive type feedback I was given?

That's awesome, congratulations! It looks like things are going well so far. I'm a new grad too and have recently submitted applications to nearby rehab/SNFs. I hope I'll get a call for an interview soon. If you don't mind, how long did it take before you got a call back from them?

Congrats! Hope you get it.

Thank you! I worked at a pharmacy in high school and had used them as reference. Coincidentally, after my third interview today, I stopped by that pharmacy to pick up some Motrin and they had gotten a call from the place I interviewed last week where the Director of Nurses blatantly told me she takes no new grads but would be willing to make an exception. I am crossing my fingers!

Today's interview left me iffy and I fumbled quite a bit (or at least I felt that way) Hours after the interview, I emailed her a quick thank you and the interviewer promptly responded in 20 minutes saying that it was a pleasure and that someone would contact me in a few days.

I don't know if these are good signs or not, and being jobless is not fun. lol!

On another bright side, got another phone interview for Cranial Technologies... has anyone heard of them?

You're doing everything right - expanding your search & putting forth a positive image! Interviewing (like every other skill) gets better with practice, but obviously you are doing great if you made a DON to consider lifting her 'no new grad' rule.

Wishing you lots of job MOJO - keep us posted on your progress.

Thank you for all of the support, everyone! Just landed two of the jobs! One was an offer from the first place where they don't take new grads and the other was from the place I interviewed at yesterday. Big decisions!

That's great!! Very proud of you!! Good luck with the start of your career!! :)

Congrats! I am also a new grad and have 2 offers on the table and most likely a third tomorrow after a job shadow! So thankful to be in a situation where I have choices! Good luck to you and congrats again!
