Disc_ Chick, your post sounds exactly like my place of work. EXACTLY. The business just got bought out so there are lots of changes. I was hired to work on their sub-acute floor that was supposed to open two weeks after my hire date (April 1st) the state never approved it so I got pushed back to opening mid May. Meanwhile, my orientation was extended on the long term floors with LPNS that did not really know how to be a teacher and they would say the same things they said to you, about don't do this if the state walks in, etc. Now I am on the 1st floor and slowly we have been getting more patients. They told the unit manager and myself that they wont be getting an aide for us until we have 8 patients total. Well, we have 6 patients as of now, and I feel like my license is in jeopardy. I am alone with no support on the 1st floor. My unit manager who was amazing and got hired with me, was the staff nurse from 7-3 until we had enough patients for her to move back to strictly manager roll. Even though, during her 7-3 shift she was still doing managerial duties, aid work and nursing work. Regardless to say she quit Monday and left after her shift due to not having an aid and having no support when asked. I do the 3-11 shift and it is so busy. I want to resign so bad but I have yet to find another place of employment. I feel like there is no organization to the chaos and my patients are threatened and to top it off I am a new grad. June 1st will be 3 months-which means my probation period will be up. Better to leave prior to that? Any advice appreciated!

I am also wondering if I should leave my clinical experiences on my resume. I am a new grad with only 3 months experience at my current position and am looking to move on. I feel like it would be very beneficial to keep my clinical experience as I don't have much experience at this time. Already I have a resume of two pages. Thanks for your input!

Yep, I am in mass. When I came on a few months ago a few nurses were clocking out and doing more paperwork, because they were tired of being bullied by DON for requesting overtime for staying a little extra.. But now they are not doing that because enough people told them that is illegal and shouldn't be doing that.

@mia415 what a great post, I would love to do that job. What state is this in? How was the PH certification? I too am curious if you did other bedside nursing before this. Looking forward to hearing from you!

These posts have been really helpful. As a new grad nurse who just accepted a position in a SNF, who also never wanted to work in this position- (I am very excited and nervous by the way). This opportunity will give me more skills, confidence, and EXPERIENCE then without it. I went into nursing to work in OB and women's health, but life changes, bills pile up. I wanted to know if people were successful in switching directions into a speciality such as L&D after working in LTC? Any information would be very helpful. Thanks!

Hi! I am in the same boat. Just got offered a job at a sub acute facility as my first RN job and am beyond nervous. Everything you wrote sounds just like my new job, including getting bought and everything being new. The only thing different is that they said they would have me orient for 3-4 weeks which makes me feel a little better. I am hoping for a great support system. Good luck to you!
