What kinds of question do they ask during the interview, and tell me about your job, do you like it? :)

Hi, there! I've been working in long term care for the past 2 years.
In my personal experience, many long term care facilities generally do not ask very many questions during the pre-employment interview. They might ask why you want to work for their facility, but that's the extent of it. Many nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities are so desperate for staff, that they'll hire anyone with a pulse and a warm body who walks through their doors. The staffing needs are typically immediate, so they frequently offer you the job after the interview.
I love working traditional long term care, but I dislike nursing home rehabilitation. I currently work on a nursing home rehab unit, and am seeking to escape to greener pastures.
Thank you very much for the response, I had a feeling that it would be that way.

The only question I think I was asked was "when can you start"....or maybe "when will you take boards"
The few questions I had for her....she launched into 20 minute speeches trying to sell the facility to me.
It's sad that they're often so short staffed.

I had the interview today and yep, they seemed very interested in hiring me. After the backround check is completed, it looks like I'll have the job!:balloons::)

Congrats, I hope you love it. I have been in LTC for 15 yrs. It is hard work but very rewarding. I work in a small facility, so my residents and coworkers are almost like family.

Most homes I have worked in ask the same kind of questions... what would you do if you found a resident on the floor, what would you do if you made a drug error, what would you do if you saw two c/a's arguing with each other in a lounge....

WOW-I must be unique. First I ask how much med surg experience the nurse has had. Then I ask how good are your assessment skills? Are you IV certified? What do you know about dementia?Wound Care? Then I take them on a tour to see how the react to the building. I don't offer a job on the spot...I check references first and then call them back with an offer if they fit the needs I have.

Congrats! It can be very difficult, but also very rewarding. Good Luck!
Congrats to you!
Thanks everyone, I've been waiting impatiently for them to call me after the interview and I finally received a call today from human resources, unfortunately, I missed the call and they left a message. I left them a message and now I'm waiting again, I just want to know for sure, 100%!!! I hope they call today and I don't have to wait till Monday, but I don't want to keep hounding them so I guess that's going to be the case(them calling Monday). OH well, I keep telling myself "Patience is a virtue!" I hope and pray I get this job, thank you all for the responses!
Okay, I just spoke to the woman from human resources and she said "you need to get your certificate first." (some places will hire without having it and just verifying whether or not one graduated by calling the school, but this place I want to work at wants you to actually have your certificate)I told her that the school is currently in the process of providing the state with all the necessary information they need about the graduate students because they called me yesterday and asked me to verify my SS# for that purpose, then I'll receive a letter in the mail stating when to go pick it up(my degree). She said "well once that's estabished we'll be ready to go." So I'm assuming that means I'm hired, right? lol, I'm sure it is but patience is such a problem with me, arghhhh.
