I saw the thread about being an INFP and I just couldn't help but start this thread...
I am an INFJ (less thatn 2% have this type) and I think INFJ's have the potential for making some of the best nurses.
I was just curious to know how you see your personality come out in your nursing--as referenced to being and INFJ. I'll share my experiences later. :heartbeat

For the benefit of those who aren't familiar, here's a little info on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and how it factors into career decisions and personality characteristics.

Thanks Eric, I should have done that!

I'm an INFJ. :) My J is pretty "weak." I'm in the middle on N and F. I'm a very strong introvert.
I also like this site's summarization of INFJ:

I think it sums me up pretty well. My current job is pretty harmonious...very low turnover...have autonomy...get to think...don't have people in my face all day, which I like...I don't have to delegate to anyone...no one delegates to me...management doesn't care what we do as long as we do the right things...it's busy, but not total chaos all the time...I feel like I can really help people...I don't feel like I have to ignore people in order to keep the ceiling from falling in elsewhere...I work with a lot of really smart people...my coworkers care about helping people too...I can reflect and be thoughtful...I can research...I can teach...hmmm, that's all I can think of right now.
I used to do ER...tried a few other specialties, work in a poison center now. NP student now, but still early days there....will be interesting to see how it goes!

INFJ here. i took the assessment this summer and read about it afterwards in detail. kind of scared me. it was like reading my life. enlightening. kind of puts the finger down on what i couldn't explain and why i felt certain ways about things and how i acted or reacted to things. pretty cool. i would say 99% of what it says about INFJ is true for me. :nuke:

Yep, that's me too! I see evidence of it in my decision to be an FNP (enjoy working one-on-one with people, autonomy, problem-solving) and to work in HIV. My favorite part of the job is getting to know my patients deeply, the counseling aspect, and the integrity of doing work I feel is meaningful.
I think we make wonderful nurses because of our ability to listen and understand the complexity of the human condition.

According to Eric's link, I'm an FNTP.
Does that mean I'm not a good nurse?

I'm an INFP/J. I took the test a while ago but I remember for the questions that decided P or J I remember thinking "well....both, depending."
