Hmmm, maybe. I usually have pretty good radar (some say oversensitive) for being hit on, and it wasn't so much that vibe. 'Course, I was doing a breathing treatment at the time, so maybe the sensors were down. Weird. Eh, I'll report it on the survey form and they can deal with it. I more got the impression that he was making fun of me and being a boor about it. Maybe I should have told him I was being punished for all those satanic rites I had done to try to heal the strep in the first place!

I hope you do say something about this. I work in an ER with an extremely weird MD. He says and does inappropriate things, just not enough that I could report him and be taken serious, but enough to keep EVERYONE that work in the ER freaked out by him. I have spoken with my nurse manager about these and she says that she needs written proof. Maybe the nurses at that ER are dealing with the same thing and your report may help. BTW I work in a field where my instincts are necessary to the job and my instincts SCREAM everytime he is in the ER. I believe in following your instincts, so please say something.

Apparently some cultures believe that pain/illness is punishment for bad deeds. Maybe that's what he was trying to get at - a psychosomatic something or other.

I have no idea what he could've meant by that weird question. But yes, I agree that was a pretty weird question to ask.

I admire you for holding it together so well when you were asked that, too. I would've probably kicked him out and told him to send in a real doc or something equally undiplomatic. :chuckle

He is just a little cracked around the edges. Sometimes they just hate to let patient give the information they need to complete their job. I would not automatically think you wanted drugs because you explained what had not worked with throat. Now if you had demanded Demerol or Percodan, then I would be suspicious.
