I'm shy

Im shy and a bit awkward and im worried I won't make a good nurse :( do any of you have any tips or experiences with being shy?

I've always been shy. What has really helped me, is getting a job as a CNA. I have no problem talking to residents or patients now, and social situations outside of work/school have improved as well.

I'm shy too, and I don't like any sort of attention. You can usually find me hiding out in the corner of the room people watching....wait...that makes me sound a little creepy......lol But I'm trying to work on my confidence because I know I'll make a damn good nurse:)

Don't worry. You're not the only one. I am shy also but I know when I become a nurse I will blossom. I am in the process of applying to nursing schools right now.

I have always been shy, but after I became a CNA I lost a lot of my shyness, or at least at work! ;) Also shyness is not always a bad thing, because I am typically quiet I am a good listener, so a lot of patients confide in me knowing that I would listen to them.

You just need to be determined not to let it stand in your way, just jump into uncomfortable situations with both feet! Good luck!

I used to be shy too but I overcame that by taking speech. I'm sure you might have to take it as a pre req. At first it's overwhelming and intimidating but once you get over the initial shyness you will be just fine. After I took my speech class I had more confidence to speak up in class or talk to people.
