Nervous about starting accelerated nursing program
Yeah I'm definitely enjoying my summer too. This has been the first summer In maybe 2 1/2 years that I'm not taking any summer classes and I'm doing as little as possible with my summer. All I've been doing is working and relaxing and having so much fun doing it. I'm resting up because the next 2 years of my life are going to be hectic lol. I started looking back on old notes from my cna course and other classes too. I haven't looked on YouTube yet. It actually slipped my mind but that's a good idea! But soon I'll start getting school supplies and other things. We can do this! Nursing school will be hard but it's what we signed up for lol. Good luck in your program and thanks for responding back! :)

Yeah of course we can keep each other motivated! I'm all for it. And thank you for the congrats! I'm not taking classes now but I'll be starting my program in September! This is my first summer that I don't have any classes to take and I am taking full advantage of it lol but I will install the app and once I start classes join your group:)

To those with an android phone who want to motivate each other?
Hey! I just looked it up. It's the app with the angry emoji with fire in his eyes and a headband? That's what it shows on my phone lol. I'm gonna install it! Thanks for sharing that, I'm just like you. I get so bored studying especially if I'm really not interested in it lol. And I'm the biggest procrastinator too lol. I'm starting nursing school in the fall, so that app with definitely help me. Good luck with A&P, I loved the first one. And good luck in nursing school too:)

views on overweight nurses
I don't have any negative views on overweight nurses, we are human. And we all come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. As long as you can be an effective and efficient nurse who genuinely cares about your patients then who gives a hoot. Ya know. And with your background in EMS, I think you will do just fine. There's always gonna be people that judge you right off back but you just have to shake the haters off. If you're comfortable in your skin and healthy then keep on keeping on. But if you're not healthy, just do simple changes to adjust your diet. I struggle with my weight too, so I completely understand. Modifying your diet is easier said than done. Trust me, I know all to well about that too lol but do it for yourself. Good luck in nursing school! :)

Becoming a CNA before starting school.
I did my CNA course for the school I was attending because it was required but my clinicals traumatized me because of the floor we were on. We worked on the Alzhemiers/dementia unit and I just felt so sad to see how the staff treated its residents. I did not enjoy going to that facility but I did learn a lot and I was confident that I was in the right field. After I finished my course and passed the boards, I had every intention of finding work as a CNA but then life happened. I started stacking classes on top of classes and then I had ran into medical problems. So my license expired but overall I'm happy I took the course because I gained so much knowledge from it. I do wish I could go back in time to find a CNA job but we can't. I'm positive nursing is for me and although nervous, I'm still excited to begin my journey, start nursing school and being able to write RN behind my name.

Nervous about starting accelerated nursing program
Hi all! This fall I will be starting an accelerated nursing program at Chamberlain at the Addison campus and to be completely honest, I am SUPER nervous. I think what I'm most nervous about is just how fast paced everything goes and all I keep thinking about is what if I can't get used to it. I've taken plenty of accelerated classes before and had no problems in the past but now we're talking about nursing school. I have most of my pre reqs done except for algebra, economics, and stats. It's a new experience for me and I'll be starting at a new school so I don't know anyone but I'm not worried about making friends because I'm friendly. I just wanted some feedback, advice, tips anything would be helpful for those of you in an accelerated program. How do you deal with the stress of it all? How did you adjust in your program? I'm single, early 20s, no kids, live with my parents. I have a great support system. Reality is setting in for me and school is starting soon. Ahhh! Lol. Oh, also if anyone who attended chamberlain at the Addison campus I would greatly appreciate your feedback from the program too:) Thanks everyone! Sorry for the extremely long post too lol.

College of Dupage
Hi all! I currently attend college of dupage and I'm almost done with my pre reqs and was considering their 3+1 nursing program with Benedictine. I've been doing a lot of research on their nursing program and I honestly love cod besides the fact they are ALWAYS doing some kind of construction lol. But I just wanted some insight from current nursing students or students that have completed the program. I always hear mixed feelings about the program. I did my cna there and it was super intense. I'm planning on applying to the program fall 2014. So can I get some feedback? Anything would be helpful. -Thanks!

Help with finding CNA job!
I know that I can't avoid it. But I guess the reason it makes me sad is because I didn't have a good experience during my clinicals. They threw us on the dementia floor without really giving us a heads up on what we were going to be seeing. And I never had a personal experience being in a nursing home or even dealing with that population of people. So I was like a fish out of water basically. Don't get me wrong some of the residents were super nice and with it but then you had your select few that I didn't know how to handle and take care of them. I just hate seeing people just in pain, crying, telling me that they're ready to go, it just put an emotional toll on me and I would wanna cry after leaving the clinical site. Not to mention that the other cna's and people that worked there were rude to me and all my classmates. I just didn't have a good experience.

Help with finding CNA job!
I've tried everywhere. I realized that I can't avoid dementia patients so I'm fine with that. But I just need a job because I want experience before nursing school starts. Right now I'm nervous just taking a patient vitals, so I need to gain more confidence.

Help with finding CNA job!
Hi guys! I'll get straight to the point ?. So I got my cna certification last year and after that I haven't been looking for a job because I've been busy and health problems got in the way. Gotta love those health problems:/. Anyways now that I'm in a better place I'm trying to find a job ( part time or per diem) preferably. I've been sending out applications everywhere and I haven't gotten any calls back. I've applied to hospitals that don't require much experience, but I already know how hard getting jobs in a hospital are. So I tried assisted living facilities and stuff like that but I can't do dementia care because its so sad but it's hard to find a job that doesn't deal with that so I can settle with it. But I'm a full time student most semesters and I don't like to work while being a full time student. I have little experience in cna work other than what I learned from clinicals, so I'm just wondering how can I stand out from others that have more experience?

General chemsitry labs
Ok so I already wrote a post about what I'm getting myself into when taking general chem. And got awesome feedback. Thank you all btw! Now I'm curious about what the labs are like because I now know all science labs are not the same. So what should I expect from labs?

General chemistry
Hi all, So I'm finishing up my last couple of pre reqs for the nursing program at my school but I just have chemistry left to take and maybe organic chem too. I'm super nervous about chemistry because I'm not that good in math, so I'm taking it in 16 weeks by itself next spring. So I need some advice about what I'm about to get myself into. I'm feeling like chemistry is the enemy and I don't want to feel that way because I want to have a positive outlook and maybe it will help me do better. So what am I looking at when I take chemistry? Any study methods? Study groups? Tutoring is definitely a MUST! And what about taking other classes along with it. Just an easy class that I know I'll do well in. All advice is welcomed. THANKS!
