Well Sunday night approx. 10 pm I started having abdominal cramping, It felt like hunger pain so I ate a little snack, threw everything up.. I figured maybe some pepto would help... Nada.. So I go lay down for a while thinking I will feel better in the morning.. Wrong again, I woke up about every 30 minuted - 1 hour up until 4:00 AM.. I started cramping really bad and I got a glass of water.. Threw up again, pure blood. My RLQ and side started hurting REALLY BAD.. I called my aunt in the ER and told her my symptoms and she said I needed to come in immediately..

So my wife and I both LPN's drive to the ER. I get there and they have to stick me x3 to get the IV. First time blown vein, second time branched vein, slow flow little return, third stick did the trick.. The run my labs comes back with an elevated WBC, and by this time my temp is slowly rising 99.6 after I recieve IV Zofran and Tordol I feel NO RELIEF... Pepic and more Zofran no relief.. Doc comes in and says I feel like you have gastritis im going to send the Cat scan to the radioligist and have him call you if anything looks bad.. Oh yeah you have inflamtion in your bowel and I want you to see a gastrointeroligist and get a colonoscopy.. I AM 22 years old dad has hx. of diverticulitis. I have to use the bathroom immediately after eating, so im think IBS.. ANYWAY doc decided to feel around on my abdomen and after mashing my right side i starting crying.. He says maybe we need to go ahead and get the radioligist opinion now.. 1 hour later Im told i have appendicitis. Now im getting really sick i have never had a surgery before.. Low and behold they take me up for surgery at 10 am and by 11 the doc steps in to the consult room and told my wife it was good I came when i did, he said it was so inflammed it would have ruptured very soon.. Some of my spelling is off guys im sorry i just had to tell everyone, Im still sore and the meds are really hitting me... Im off work untill the 22nd..

Great story, glad to know you're ok!

Glad to hear you're doing well.

I'm kind of surprised the nurses and docs didn't check your abdomen first thing in their assessment, or did they?

Thank you all for the kind words.. I can't say too much at one setting.. LOL The nurses knew where i was hurting and they informed the DOC. Im not sure why he didn't check their first.. The nurses where both close to me.. One was my aunt Carla and the other was her best friend.

There are only two things good that came out of this. ONE the OR surgeon said it would have ruptured if I wouldn't have came in that day. TWO I get to take two weeks paid off at work...

I had an attack similar to this in one of my classes in August. I was admitted on Monday and by Weds. I was non-stop vomiting and they did surgery. I was back in class on the following Monday. Not really sore at all. I have to say the LAP procedures ROCK>>>>>>

Good luck with your recovery.
